The Treasurer's office has microfilmed 'early' tax records beginning c1859 for Lands North, and 1874-75 for Lands South (north and south as designated in the township and range description). They do not search these records, one must make arrangements for a personal visit. IRAD in Carbondale http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/irad/iradhome.html has scattered, earlier tax and assessor's records for St Clair and southern Illinois. They will search what is available if you provide the township. More information on tax records can be found in St. Clair County Research and Resources: A Genealogist's Guide available from the St. Clair CoGenSoc http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/stchome.htm (may have to cut and paste URLs) Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cheryl Jordan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 10, 2002 2:27 PM Subject: [ILSTCLAI] real estate tax records > Do Real Estate tax records exist for the early 1860's?
