I am looking for information concerning Charles SARGENT and his wife Sarah Smith. Charles was born May 27, 1792 in Massachusetts. He married Sarah Smith, daughter of Samuel Smith, in 1820. I am looking for information where they were married, Massachusetts or Illinois. He was the ovner of several business in Belleville and Lebanon, Illinois. We have a share of stock that he purchased in the St. Clair Turnpike Company. He died September 12, 1848 and is buried in Lebanon, Illinois A family rumor is he died as a result of a lost leg in either the Battle of New Orleans or the Mexican American War. He and Sarah had six children, two of whom died in infancy. Sarah married Matthew Potter after Charles death. Sarah died December 26, 1858. Charles and Sarah's oldest son, Henry, was the executor of his will, and my husband's greatgreat grandfather. We were wondering if anyone can confirm the answer to #1 & 5. Also when Henry moved to Marshall County, Illinois, did he bring his mother with him. We have visited the cemetary in Lebanon and found Charles and Jane's, their oldest childs, graves, but we couldn't find one for Sarah Potter.
