Connie: I am not sure about a transcription of the cemetery but there is plot map at the Belleville Library. I have used the plot map and their index there to look up some people that are buried there. Do you know an approx. date of death? All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke -----Original Message----- From: Conni Braun [mailto:cbraun675@wideopenwest.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 28, 2004 4:48 PM To: ILSTCLAI-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Walnut Hill Cemetery Is there a transcription of those buried in the Walnut Hill Cemetery? List, New queries have been posted here for December 2004 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilstclai/queries4.htm; and two census pages have been edited to include proper spelling of a family's name: Ganz instead of Gunz ED 82-79 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilstclai/queries4.htm and Wegrzyn instead of Wengrzyn ED 82-65 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilstclai/ED82-65.htm HOWEVER, the following e-mail addresses for two queries are problematic: EMAIL BOUNCED -- Surname THOMAS, especially Col. John Thomas, Jr. 1815. Hat0938@aol.com and e-mail for Terri [<ksmith@ipa.net> who is researching Alsace-Lorraine families] has a spam blocker up preventing your email from getting through. :( Diane Maillist Coord.

I would appreciate any help in looking up a marriage record in St. Clair County. I'm looking for the marriage of John Henry Harrington to Anna E. ? in St. Clair County about 1906. I have the two of them together with a granddaughter Ruth (born 1896 in Il) in the 1910 census for St. Clair County. I can't locate Ruth's parents. I would also appreciate a lookup on Ruth to see if she married in St. Clair County. I would be glad to pay any expenses associated with this research. Kim Myers

Greetings, Bill! Have you looked at the St. Clair County Web Page? St. Clair County (Illinois) Genealogical Society http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/stchome.htm If you scroll down to Church Records, you'll see a link to Catholic Parish registers. If you are in the Belleville, IL or St. Louis, MO area you can go to either the Belleville Public Library or the main branch of the St. Louis County Library and look at these church records on microfilm. Sometimes there are other little clues contained in them besides the usual information. I can't remember the name of the Catholic church in Mascoutah but if you can't find it, I bet the Web Page owner can help you. Good luck. Gloria
He is in the 1850 census under the name Rigg I will send a copy of the census direct. Searching for information on ancestors who lived in St. Clair County in the 1860's. I have a document that Adolphus Jager and Cleopha Rotringer were married on April 12, 1864 "by virtue of three weeks instruction in the Roman Catholic Church in Mascoutah." That would probably indicate they were living in that area. Adolphus also went by Adolph and Adolf. I believe his last name was actually Jaeger. Cleophas first name was Mary and I believe the correct spelling of Cleopha was Kleopha. The marriage document lists her last name as Rotringer but I believe it was actually Rotzinger. They both were from the Baden area of Germany but I don't know when they emigrated. Adolf was born in 1836 and Mary on September 21, 1843. They had a daughter Kathrina born February 28, 1865 who died July 9, 1865. They also had a daughter Mary Teresa born August 4, 1866. The first two children were born in Illinois, probably in the Mascoutah area. By September of 1869 they were living in Lebanon, Missouri. Does anyone have any ideas on how I would find out information on their years in St. Clair County. I am also searching for ways to find out when they came to the America and where they lived in Germany so I can trace them back. Any help I receive will be greatly appreciated. Bill Olson
Dear all, Would someone who has US Census index capabilities please see if you can find an Isom Riggs (or maybe Rigg) in the 1850 Census? He is probably in Wisconsin. He was born in IL around 1803, probably St Clair County. Born in IL, by 1840 he was in Iowa County, Wisconsin, and in 1870 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. I cannot find him in either the 1850 (I don't have indexed) or 1860 If found, I just need the location in the Census (State, county, page number etc) Thanks in advance. Debbie V.
Hello all, I am looking for information about Isom Riggs, b about 1805. I am just guessing that he may be the son of Hosea Riggs. I am also guessing that he married Mary "Polly" Woods in 1827 and that they eventually settled in Wisconsin. I am looking for some corroboration for these "guesses". Thanks, Debbie V.
Hello list, After posting the query below some of you have written me privately and asked my why I believe the middle initial "T" in William T. HIGGINS stands for THOMPSON, so I'm adding this note to my query. The reason I feel that my William T. HIGGINS middle name was THOMPSON is because I believe I found land sale records from Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa courthouse with his name William Thompson HIGGINS. I can't find them now to save my soul. I'm about 95% sure I'm right, but until I can find the documents again I can't say it was for sure. I do remember that the land sales about 1852 & 1854 involved a partnership between my William T. HIGGINS, George Thomas HIGGINS ( Wm. possible brother) and James E. BURKE. James E. BURKE born 1815 Tipperary County, Ireland, died 1887 Keokuk, Iowa) was connected to the HIGGINS through marriage of his sister Bridget BURKE born 1830 Birr (now Parsonstown) Kings County, Ireland died 1905 Keokuk, Iowa who married John FANNING (born abt 1826 in NY). James E. BURKE came to American in 1836 and in Williamsport, VA., he was a Steamboat Captain & married twice, first to Margaret McCUNE born 1823 in Belmont, County, Ohio, died 1871 Ohio, and his second wife, Miss LYNCH according to his obituary. ----- Original Message ----- From: "jgilker" <jgilker@insightbb.com> To: <ILSTCLAI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 5:15 PM Subject: [ILSTCLAI] HIGGINS & their relatives- VA, OH, KY, IA, MO, IL > Surnames: Higgins, Higgians, Recksieck, Drallmeier, Strenger, Thomapson, Gilbreath, Grimshaw, Moore, Hase, Fanning, FitzHenry, Laubersheimer > > I have a William Henry HIGGINS who was born 1850 in Cincinnati, OH. and died 1890 in Belleville, St. Clair Co. Thanks to the listers who have answered my question. We shall have the record in no time. Bre and Kim
Hello List, I am helping a good friend find out about her family. Both of her parents have passed away and she knows very little about either side of her family. In our research I have found that she is a decendant of Meshack Teter and Sarah Owings through their daughter Amelia who was born 1 January, 1850 in St.Clair County, IL. We are needing the marriage record of Meshach and Sarah. Is there anyone on the list that lives in St. Clair County that would be willing to obtain this record for us? Postage and copy fees will be sent, just email me at kdemarce@nemr.net Thanks! Bre & Kim
