Dear List, There are words written behind the name of the sponsor on some of the Baptismal records from the St. George Church in New Baden. The script writing is difficult to read and therefore I can't refer to my Latin book to translate, if indeed they are Latin words. I suspect one or more of them mean proxy or substitute for. Could someone help with this? Just a list of some of the Latin words that you've seen on your records from St. George would be helpful. Thank You. Darlene

The second half of this lecture will discuss a variety of home sources, ranging from photographs to personal papers and how to use these sources to continue your search for family history. Online Search Strategy This lecture will discuss a general online research strategy that is applicable to about just any ancestor and time period. The intent of this session is to provide the researcher with a framework to cut down on wasted online time and make the best use of their resources. Tried and Tested Tidbits Geared to researchers at all levels, this lecture discusses procedures and methods that are easy to forget and that once forgotten can significantly hinder research. Sometimes it is the little things than cause the most difficulty for the family history researcher. This lecture will provide the new researcher with ideas of things to not overlook and remind more experienced researchers of things they might have forgotten. Census Records From 1790-1930, census records are one of the sources most utilized by genealogists. This lecture will provide a summary of what is contained in census records, how to analyze them and the many ways that genealogists can now access these records, ranging from microfilm in a library to websites that bring the data directly to your own home. Michael John Neill is the Course I Coordinator at the Genealogical Institute of Mid America (GIMA) held annually in Springfield, Illinois, and is also on the faculty of Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. Michael is the Web columnist for the FGS FORUM and is on the editorial board of the Illinois State Genealogical Society Quarterly. He contributes to several genealogical publications, including Ancestry Magazine and Genealogical Computing. -----Original Message-----

This is a real flyer., but here goes. My parents, Jerry CROY and Ray EOFF graduated from Eastside High in E. St. Louis in 1939 and 1938, respectively, and married there in 1940. They celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this August in Texas. They have lost touch with two of the women in their wedding party, Lucille SHOEMAKER, who married Terry ANDERSON and moved to Washington DC, and June BRAG. (Mom can't remember June's married name.) Both were from E. St. Louis and graduated in 1938. My folks would love to get in contact with these women, if they are still with us. If you know of either, could you send me an email with whatever information is available? My parents and I would really appreciate any help at all. Jerri Eoff Sudderth 1611 E. River Pkwy. Buecher's Naturalization Index is the Circuit Court Record for St Clair County before 1906 - it was the only record required by law to be kept by the court, so, when the courthouse was replaced, the actual naturalization papers were pitched (many evidently had been damaged). Buecher's publication shows name, court term naturalized, and the number. Filby took Buecher's publication and added it to his (Filby's) Passenger and Immigration Lists series. IRAD in Carbondale now has the original Court Record book from which Buecher transcribed the naturalization information. More about St Clair's naturalizations and the other courts in the county that performed these services is on the SCCGS web site here http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/natl.htm You will **not** find the ship name or arrival date mentioned in declaration or natualization records **in St. Clair** if a person was naturalized * before* 1906.
