In 1821 the brothers, David and Levi Lawrence, registered an 80 acre land patent in St. Clair County, Illinois. Levi is presumed dead by December 1834 when his, wife Mary (Polly) Fuller married David Marks in Morgan County Illinois. David was still alive in August 1840 when he was involved in a circuit court case in St. Clair County. I would appreciate any information on either of these Lawrence brothers. Levi Lawrence is my 3great grandfather. TIA Bob Robert Evans Page "... comes from a long line of dead men." Lawrence Block

The militia lists were compiled between 1861 and 1863, but the Presidential order for this census was issued 4 Aug 1862. Read more at the Illinois State Archives __Descriptive Inventory__ online here (may have to cut/paste; refresh or revisit if down) http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/di/301__002.htm 301.029 MILITARY CENSUSES. You might contact the ISA to see if they can pin the date down any further. I do know the enrolling officer for this census of New Athens had no specific date on it - but perhaps a date appears on the original militia list? Dear list members, while searching for something else, I came across an article about the fight that John Kuk had to become a citizen of our country. At the end of the article are the following names: "Others admitted to citizenship yesterday were: Theodore Dockwat, Anton Poszkewics, Paul Mezyk, Thomas Thanos, John Sadka, Rev. Cssian Niebauer, Stephen Ketipoff, Mrs. Fannie Sozinsky, John Guidani, Mrs. Esther Goldman, Venci Serlc, Anna Ziombra, Annie Shipion." The date of the East St. Louis Journal article is 14 January 1928. I apologize to anyone who is related to Venci --- that last name is difficult to read and is probably spelled incorrectly, but this is the best that I could figure. Donnell Redlingshafer Wisniewski
Is there any where that one can buy the above mentioned book ? I know it is out of publication but thought some one would know where I might get one . Sonny
