Hi, On the SCCGS web site there is a Tombstone index that indicates there is a Reisacker buried at St. John Smithton Cemetery. Could anyone on this list tell me the full entry for that or if there is more than one Reisacker person buried there? Thanks a bunch! Darren King
Dear list I have'nt recieved any list from you since the month of June started. Do you know what is wrong. Marcella

I found this on the 1930 census: Frank Hendricks Helen Hendricks Patton, Ford, IL abt 1895 Illinois Head Helen Hendricks Frank Hendricks Patton, Ford, IL abt 1906 Wife Frank Hendricks Frank Hendricks Patton, Ford, IL abt 1923 Son Dorothy Hendricks Frank Hendricks Patton, Ford, IL abt 1927 Daughter Happy Hunting, Kathie Mirabella
I am looking for birth, marriage and death records for the family of Frank Hendricks, but do not know what city they lived in, but know they lived in IL in the 1940's. Does anyone know if there is a state index that has these records alphabetized? I have written several towns that elderly relatives thought they lived in, but have not found any records. Frank had a wife, Myra and a son James who is now in his 50's. He was not in the military, was not a member of a church and is not listed in the Social Security Death Index. Judy Connecticut
I found this: I haven't looked through complete but I found a bounty file that you can scroll through. http://www.sources2go.com/
In 1814 land in Illinois was bought directly from the U.S. government - the Public Domain Land Sales database on the Illinois State Archives (ISA) web site http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/data_lan.html has all of these indexed from the land office tract books. The Bureau of Land Management web site (down until/through? July) has also indexed their copy of the tract books (date differences reflect purchase vs issue date) and posted images of the purchases online (additional info and link on the ISA site above). Military Bounty Lands issued in Illinois' Military Tract for War of 1812 service are in northern Illinois. The ISA web site has a map of this area - a google search will also turn up several maps. Most original patentees sold their patents by 1825 and did not settle in the Tract; many lost them because of an ambiguous tax law. Many issues over this land are summarized in James D. Wallker's introduction to the book, War of 1812 Bounty Lands in Illinois, indexed by Volkel and reprinted by Heritage House, 1977; available in many libraries. Any ancestor in Illinois close to statehood (1818) should also search the various land claims for preemptions, militia claims, lands granted by foreign governments, and squattors' rights. The 'first look' source for these the Raymond Hammes Collection of Early Land Records - available at the Belleville Public Library on microfilm, http://www.compu-type.net/rengen/stclair/BPL.htm and the Illinois State Archives, among others. Where would I find land grants or land bounties for the year 1816-1817? Seth Hodges voted in the election for statehood and he was in the area near O'fallon. Where might I find his land? He later moved to Macoupin Co. I have his land record for 1823 and following. He died there in `1841 Thanks Marita
List For those interested in funding of some genealogical and historical based projects, I post the following in case you have not seen it on other lists: The proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2006 eliminates the National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC), the only grant-making body in the federal government with a focus on archives. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), NHPRC's parent agency, will also be challenged to meet demands in other important areas. Anyone interested in signing the Petition has until June 10 to make the initial signature list submitted by the House subcommitte. July 3 is the last day additional names will appear on the bill. [Per Klustens posting on the APG List] SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION The Council of State Historical Records Coordinators (COSHRC) has created an online petition to continue to express to Congress public interest in restoring of funding for NHPRC [National Historical Publications and Records Commission, which is part of the National Archives and Records Administration]. Consider signing this petition and forwarding it to listservs, email groups, organizations, and individuals who might be interested in helping with this effort. It is a quick and easy way for many people to assist. The petition will be forwarded to the House Appropriations Committee and Subcommittee on Treasury, Transportation, HUD and the Judiciary in late May. Access the petition at: <www.savearchives.org> and click on the "petition" button. For more information on NHPRC, see <http://www.archives.gov/grants/about_nhprc/about_nhprc.html>. For more information about the Fiscal Year 2006 budget proposals for NARA and NHPRC, see <http://www.coshrc.org/issues/NHPRC-NARA-06budget/>
Elizabeth, I believe you sent me an image from ancestry.com tonight that referred to my GGGrandfather, John LETTER. Unfortunately, ancestry wouldn't let me see it (said I had exceeded my number of free viewings, which must be zero, since I PAY for ancestry. Was it a census image??? If so, I may have it, but maybe not. Thanks for trying!!!!! Jane Brown
I have just received a copy of a marriage license for Bertha TROST and John PILGER (she was my maternal great-aunt). Both lived in Belleville, but they went to St. Louis to marry. Bertha gave her age as 19, but I believe she would have been 17, at most. Was St. Louis a sort of Gretna Green, a place where underage couples could marry easily? Part of Bertha's problem might have been that her mother was dead and her father was in a home for soldiers and sailors in Ohio, so probably there was no one authorized to give her permission to marry. This is just curiosity on my part. :) Thanks, Jane H. Brown Pearland, TX researching TROST, LETTER, WUERTZ, HEMMER, ERNST, SOOY, WRIGHT, among others in St. Clair Co and St. Louis area.

Can anyone tell me if there is any access to the records at the St Clair count court house ? I live in St Charles Mo. and they have a room that is open to the public to check marriage and birth record. Sonny

Hello, I'm new here and in need of help for a friend with JEUDE ancestors. I had hopes I could order the SCCGS quarterly, volume 3 with pages 129 to 140 with references to the Jeude name but that particular issue is out of print. My friends grandparents are Michael Jeude (1876-1930) born in Freeburg, IL and Susan DeNeff Jeude. Michael's father was one of three brothers who migrated from Germany but I am unable to locate Michael in any of the households other than after he was married before1897. He died shortly after the census was taken in 1930 in California. Is there anyone out there that might be able to help me? I believe there was a Henry Jeude who may have been Michael's brother who remained in St Clair County..Lenzburg, I believe there is a? Jeude burial in the Lenzburg Cemetery (Demstadt Memorial), possibly a family plot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Nancy C. Does anyone on this list have any knowledge of Thomas HYLAND and his family? Briefly Thomas, the son of Patrick Hyland & Johanna Lee, was born in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, Ireland on Aug 5, 1899. According to the Ellis Island Immigration site, he arrived at Ellis Island on November 12, 1920 and was intending to travel to St Louis, MO. The 1930 Census on Ancestry shows him living just across the river at Henrietta Avenue, East St Louis Township, St Clair County, Illinois together with wife Margaret H and daughter Mary M. The SSDI shows that a Thomas HYLAND, with the correct birth date, died in May 1979. A Margaret HYLAND that may be Thomas's wife also died in Belleville Apr 12, 1988. Any help in tracing the descendants of Thomas and Margaret would be much appreciated. Stuart McGee
