I am searching for information on the family of a Charles STEWART & Mary Ann PENN He was b. 1818 Maryland, d 1881 Stoddard CO. MO. She was the daughter of Mary Ann Starr b. 27 Oct. 1794, Va. and d. 25 Dec.1870, Lebanon, St. Clair, IL., & Phillip Penn, her parents could be Daniel Starr, born in Va. in 1768, & Elizabeth Dodgely(Dedgely), born 14, Dec. 1775, in Hardy County Va., and married about 1793 in Virginia. Charles & Mary Ann STEWART's 3 sons were born in IL, since they were married in St. Clair Co., IL, I would assume that they would have lived there, and that's where the boys were born, but I haven't been able to prove it. According to the census, both of Charles STEWART's parents were born in MD, and according to the naming practices, if he were to name his first son after his father I found a marriage record of a Pollard STEWART and a Rosanna PROCTOR that could work, Pollard is not a commond first name: ============================ Marriage Records 1780-1867 Dorchester County Maryland (Alpha order by wife P - S) 17 MAY 1815 STEWART, Pollard PROCTOR, Rosanna ========================== Charles STEWART b. 1818 MD, m. 1849 Mary Ann PENN b. Hello I'm looking for the Belton Family, most are from Sparta, Randolph CO, IL. Although Charles Williams Belton married Nancy Ann McGee daughter of Reuben and Mariah, (Mary/Maria ?) Fleming who I found in St.Clair Co, IL. 1930 census. The children of Charles and Nancy are Howard, Dora, Jane, Ida, Edna, Robert, Rosie, John, Grace, (known as buster) and Tiny. There is said to be three sets of twins. I can fill in all most all the family forward. I know my Mom, daughter of John and Osceola (Gardiner) had a brother who married a twin they had twins and one of the twins had twins. My older brother had twins also. Anyway here's the rub, family lore has it that Charles and his mother (unknown) came from Germany aboard a ship where his Dad and a sibling died in transit leaving Mom and son alone. As the story has the surname was Faust. Some where along the way Momma Faust acquired the name Belton as did Charles. The closest thing to documentation that I have is a copy of a family Bible that has the name Faust once or twice then goes to Belton. Most of these names are written in a old German script known as sutterlien, last taught in school as order by Hitler who ordered it to be re-taught after decades of not being taught, I believe. Faust is to Germans as Smith and Jones are to Americans. I could really use some help on this family. Thanks Max Surnames..Preslar, Williams, Belton, Gardiner, Berry, McBride, McGee, Rhodes, and of course Faust. I also have two mystery Cleggs.
thanks to all who responded, Vol. 7 has been spoken for. Diane

I'm sorry, I don't know your BROWN family, but I have an Ellen BROWN who was my great great grandmother that I know very little about, but what I do know I thought I'd throw out there. Ellen Brown b. IRL 1815 d. Belleville, IL 1880 m. Edward O'Neil b. Roscrea, Tip. IRL 1806 d. Belleville, IL 1879 (my great great grandfather) I know that Ellen BROWN was from Ireland, but don't know if they met in Tipperary or when the O'Neils emigrated to Utica, NY in 1829. I do know that Ellen Brown was in Utica from a family biography, and when the O'Neil family moved to St. Louis from Utica, in 1837, Ellen stayed behind and Edward came back for her when he'd settled and was earning a living as a Blacksmith in Bell eville, IL. Perhaps some of her family moved to the St. Clair or St. Louis area with her and there is a connection. The rest of the O'Neils lived in St. Louis. I've never been able to find marriage records in NY, MO or IL for them. children: Frank Robert O'Neil b. IL 1851 d. St. L. 27 Jan 1908 m. Gallatin, IL (my great grandfather) Henrietta J. I am currently researching the family of my Great Grandparents John (Jack) T. & Julia (Bowler) Brown. John (Jack) T. Brown was born Nov 1864 in Missouri; Julia (Bowler) Brown was born Feb 1867 in Wisconsin. We have information from the 1900 census showing their residence in St. Louis City, Missouri on Park Avenue with two children Edna (b. 1887) & James (b. 1892). In the 1910 census John, Julia & James are living in East St. Louis, Illinois on State Street. John is working as a Car Inspector for the Railroad. Edna is now married to August Pey and they are also living on State Street in East St. Louis. In the 1920 census Edna & August have moved to St. Louis County but we are unable to locate John, Julia or James in either Illinois or Missouri. I have no reason to think they moved from this area but do not know this for sure. Any information or suggestions related to John, Julia or James would be greatly appreciated. --Thanks, Keith Keith Pey St. Louis, MO Also researching in the St. Clair County area: PEY; ARNET; BROWN; BOWLER
John Rickert was born in 1834 and Margaretha in 1843. I have found them in the 1870 and 1880 census. John died before 1880 but I do not know when. Also I do not know Margretha's maiden name or if she ever remarried. If anyone can help me with any information it would be greatly appreciated. Edna, I have GODFREY as a family name in St. Clair Co., with the earliest ancestor Jean Florin GODFREY, reportedly born in Loraine, France between 1812-1815 (1860 St. Clair Co. Census). He was married to Florence Marie COROMBER. I, too, have had little luck going further back, but do know from travels in France that the name GODFROI/GODFROIX appears there. (A son of Jean Florin GODFREY, August may have been born in the US - we have conflicting evidence on this - but his marriage in French Village, St. Clair Co., in 1868, was under the name GODFROI.) Don't know if this is in any way related to your SCHOFFRA family...but, who knows.... Jerri Jerri Eoff Sudderth 1611 E. River Pkwy. Minneapolis, MN 55414 651/332-3796

Looking for the correct name/spelling of a Rev. Arthur Schroedel (Shraydel?), who might have served a Pinckneyville (Perry) or Lenzburg (St. Clair) protestant church in the 1910's. Perhaps church history books indicate such a name. I would very much like to know the correct name, the name of the church, and the years spent in service there. Thank you. Marsha
