Would anyone know of books or material on Western Brewery that was located in Belleville abt 1890? II believe it was later bought up by Stag . My gr gr grandfather worked for them as a teamster. Thank you, Bob Pusateri
I'm newly registered for the St. Clair County list. Hello new friends...and warm greetings to my old genie friends of SCCGS. The Stehfest Cemetery was recently severely damaged. This small cemetery is north of Hecker (Monroe Co) one mile, and south of Belleville (St. Clair) about 9 miles. I would appreciate being notified of anyone/group that is working with the village of Hecker on the restoration of the cemetery. The newspaper estimated $11,000 in damages. Literally scores of markers were destroyed; I'm sure that my ancestors' markers are among them; I live in St. Louis County in Missouri and have not been over there yet. Heartbroken on Valentine's Day, Marsha Clark
Looking for informaiton on Harold George Ehut-Ehrit-Ehert-Ebert-Ekut??? I can not make out the last name. The address on the picture is 2603 East Main Street, Belleville, Illinois. A man in Navy uniform, time was World War 2, probably at Naval training camp in Illinois. My Stepfather had this picture amongst his things. Would love to find the family of this man to see if they would like the picture. Could someone look in the records of Belleville, Illinois in 1941-thru 1944, and find out the correct spelling of the last name. Thank you for your help.
If someone has an index of this cemetery would you please lookup some of my ancestors and provide date of death? John M. Hueckel Josephine T. (Baldus) Hueckel Many thanks. Conni in Ohio

Hello Conni, Don't have specific info on HUECKEL, but if you go to the address line of your browser, highlight it and type in only the word HUECKEL, you will get 1,247 hits, or 1,247 different places where the surname HUECKEL appears. you can type in other stuff there to like first names and the maiden name. Perhaps this will help you to isolate the information you seek. Well, I guess I can take my pick! As I wrote privately to Kitty, I believe they did take a trip to Colorado, so either possibility makes sense. Thanks, Clyde, for taking the time to reply! Dear Betty, I am most interested in these photos that you have found and identified! My cousins are part of the Chamberlin family of Lebanon - Ruth was an aunt of mahy of them and the sister of Virginia Chamberlin Pfeffer (who is stil living in St. Louis). Dr. M.H. Chamberlin was Ruth's great-uncle. The folks at the local historical society (Dona Monroe and Harrison Church amongst them) would dearly love to see what you have. I did not find your e-mail address in your note but will be happy to put you in contact with them as you wish! Thanks for making this kind offer - I know it will be well received by family and Lebanonites! Best wishes, Walter L. Pfeffer, II P.O. Betty, I doubt this will help you much but - Tower Grove and Forest Parks are probably those that are in St. Louis, MO. Gloria - St. Louis

I recently received a photo album that belonged to my grandparents. I believe most of the pictures were taken between 1890 and 1908, many of them in Lebanon. A number of places are labeled, and since I've never lived in Illinois, I wonder if anyone could tell me where they might be. They are: (1) Mascoutah Road (2) Tower Grove Park (3) The Bryan House - where William Jennings Bryan's father lived while attending McKendree (4) Sulphur Springs (5) Clionian Hall (6) Platonian Hall (7) Manitou Springs railroad station (8) Eads Bridge (9) Forest Park (The Music Pavilion) There is also a picture of Main Street looking west from Dr. Waggoner's office in Lebanon. The trees on the street look pretty small. Anyone who knows Lebanon well could probably date the picture fairly accurately. There are pictures of a couple of bridges, a large church, a domed mausoleum in a park-like setting, views of the "Nashville" at anchor on the Mississippi at St. Louis. Several photos are of people whose names mean nothing to me. I will list them in a separate message. Betty
Hi Jim, I think that would be included in the Belleville enumerations.
