Audrey, The way PaperPort works is this: a) Scan the printed page as you would a photo or anything else b) Then drag the scan image to the Word icon in the window c) the Word application opens with your document just as edit-able & saveable as if you typed it. d) With multi-pages you may have to copy & paste to merge everything into 1 doc --Jim & Bev are right...The buzzword descriptor is OCR for Optical Character Recognition...S/W like OmniPage Pro can even do graphics or columns of #'s into Excel for example.
