    1. [ILSTANNE] New to the list
    2. Hello to all you folks interested in St. Anne and the surrounding areas. My name is Bob Bovie and I've been monitoring this site since it's inception. Recently Ginny Crawford suggested I introduce myself to the group. Since I don't have a list of the original St. Anne group, I'm not sure how many of you I am personally acquainted with. A bit of personal history: I was born at the Iroquois County Hospital in 1937. My parents, Melvin and Iola (Kirts) Bovie lived in Beaverville at the time. Melvin was the assistant cashier at the Beaverville State Bank. Iola was a schoolteacher, teaching at the Frigon School near Beaverville and the Oak Bank School located between Beaverville and St. Anne, closer to Papineau. Iola was the teacher at Oak Bank when it closed. My family moved to St. Anne in the mid-1940s. Melvin, for many years, was the chief accountant for the St. Anne Brick & Tile Co., and related business owned by Messrs. Cote, Corkins and Parish. Iola continued teaching in the Bradley School District after the Oak Bank School closed. The first 4 years of my schooling was at the Frigon School, with mother as teacher. I then attended the St. Anne Academy and St. Anne Community High School. I attended Univ. of Ill for 1 1/2 years, then sought employment at Armstrong Cork Company in Kankakee. During the 1960s and 1970s I was involved with the St. Anne Village Board, as Clerk, the local Knights of Columbus Council and the St. Anne Youth Activity Group. In 1958 Sandra Beaupre and I were married. Sandra is the daughter of Russell Beaupre (deceased) and Wauneta (Starkey) Beaupre of Bourbonnias. Sandra was born at Lying In Hospital in Chicago in 1937. Her family later moved to Kankakee and then St. Anne. Sandra's grandparents were Wilfred and Nelda Beaupre. Wilfred at one time operated the Beaupre Dairy in St. Anne. Sandra's mother was a long time employee of the St. Anne Post Office. After attending grade school and high school in St. Anne, Sandra worked as a dental assistant for Drs Kratz, Emerson and Van Drunen in St. Anne. In the 1970s Sandra was employed as a floral designer at Village Flowers in St. Anne. Following our marriage, we lived in Harvey, IL for about one year and then returned St. Anne, living there until 1977. At that time I accepted a transfer with Armstrong to their main facility in Lancaster, PA. I continued employment with Armstrong, officially retiring in 1997, but continued on for over two years as a part time computer systems consultant. Sandra and I have three adult offspring. Jill, married to Carl Slagle, with one child, Joey, living in Alexandra, VA. Michael, married to Susan Metzger, with one child, Evan, living here in Lancaster, PA. And Darren, living in Boston, MA, planning his June 10 wedding to Patty Lenz. We are researching these family names: On Bob's side of the family, Bovie (Bauvais or Beauvais), Kerger, Kirts and Regan. Sandra's ancestors are Beaupre, Bourgeois, Starkey and Spurgeon. We've new to this genealogy thing, having just begun in the past few months. Cheers Bob And Sandra Bovie Lancaster, PA
