Hi Jan and everyone, I haven't posted to this list in a long time, so let me reintroduce myself. I'm Susan Vaughn Turner. My French Canadian ancestors came through Kankakee Co, and ended up in Riley, Clay, Cloud, and Washington Counties in KS. Surnames include: PERREAULT / PERRAULT / PARO, MARTEL, and MARSAN dit LAPIERRE / MARSAN / MARSANDT / MARSANT I'm responding to Jan's query concerning the St Pierre's. I don't know if this has been mentioned in the ongoing discussion (as I said, I haven't been active on this list for several months) but Jan's St Pierre's may have originally been Marsan dit Lapierre. The descendents of this line used many variations of Marsan and Lapierre as well as St Pierre when they shortened the name. Perhaps you should try looking under some of the alternatives. I've received a lot of assistance in my search for Marsan dit Lapierre ancestors through l'Association des descendants de Pierre Marsan dit Lapierre at www.genealogie.org/famille/marsan-lapierre/marsan.htm . Jean-Guy Marsan, the president of the organization, has been extremely helpful. There is a fee to become a member, but it's reasonable. Well, just thought I'd touch base with you all. Take care, Sue :)
