I haven't opened any attachments...as attachments aren't allowed on list communications. I thought that was the ONLY way to get infected. As I said then: yes, a virus can invade one's address list and then send virus-carrying messages, with the messages appearing to be from familiar sources. (This is in addition to the the known possibility of ATTACHMENTS carrying viruses - not a worry on RootsWeb.) The RootsWeb virus protection system is hard at work intercepting these tainted messages and deleting them. This happened once before, we all laid low, and eventually the threat passed. Yes, it is a pain. If you are on the Quebec list, Gary Bouvin just sent a long message with information about this problem, urging everyone to get his or her virus protection program up to speed. An excellent letter - please heed! If anyone has other comments about viruses and/or this particular threat, please write to me directly at < [email protected] > with the word DIRECT in the subject line. I am definitely not a techie, but will help if I can. Ginny
