Search Strategies for Some Online LDC 1880/1881 Census Transcriptions By Ted Pack [email protected] In November 2002 the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints put transcriptions of the 1880 United States Census, the 1881 Canadian Census and the 1881 British Isles Census online at its website: http://www.familysearch.org/ The search engine attached to the database is a work of genius. However, the help screens attached to the database, lack examples. Since it came out, I've spent a couple of hours a week on their site, looking for everyone I have in my database born between 1805 and 1880. Some people are easier to find than others. I have a list of examples to try if you don't find your ancestor on the first try, at http://www.tedpack.org/lds1880.html I don't claim to be a genius at searching, but I have spent a lot of hours with the data.
