Good morning, Vance and all: the ILSTANNE list concentrates on those French-speaking families who emigrated to Illinois in the mid-1800s (mostly from Quebec, but also from Belgium, Switzerland, etc.) to establish the town of St. Anne and other towns in the St. Anne vicinity (Kankakee and Iroquois counties, Illinois). We follow those families back to their earliest origins, if we can, and we track them as they move to other states - notably Kansas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. We look not only for family lines, but also for family and regional history. We are a new list, but an old group. We have been functioning via eMail for a year or so, and just now, when we became a RootsWeb list, we opened for business with 77 subscribers already in place. We are friends and colleagues, all spading the soil in our focus area. As a RootsWeb list, we welcome anyone who thinks he or she may benefit by joining and participating. But since your interest is in Sangamon County, Vance, we may be of no help to you. You may want to look for the Sangamon county list; the address should be on the RootsWeb page that lists the lists. Otherwise or in addition, you may want to stay on ILSTANNE, and we're glad to have you with us. Cheers - er, Salut!
