Most of the early church records I have from St Anne's & St Mary's show the mother listed under her maiden name. The baptism records also show the maiden name of the Godmother. At first, this was very confusing to me...but then it became an excellent source to verify the maiden names of the wives. It must be noted that some of the spellings are very bad. I don't know what type of modifications can be made. It is pretty simple and straight forward. It MAY be impossible to continue with our group list of e-mail addresses, names, locations, and surnames now that we are a Roots List. We will have to see how many new members we get. Many of the Roots Lists generate a large volume of mail...and people subscribe and unsubscribe at an amazing rate. The questions asked often become repetitious. I have unsubscribed from these lists because they were filling my mailbox and offering very little information. I am also concerned how this change will affect Lee Ann's St Anne section on the KKK GenWeb site. Ginny will have to write to each new member individually and ask them to submit their surnames to Lee Ann and me. Anyone having a website will understand how time consuming it is to add or delete information on a site. Lee Ann has spent a considerable amount of time just setting up a page for us. It will be difficult for her to keep changing and uploading the information to the GenWeb server. Ardis Boone asked that we NOT send her any messages until after April 1st when she returns home...to avoid overloading her e-mailbox and old computer. Now that we are a Roots list, members will have to "unsubscribe", then "subscribe" when they return. Sorry to say Ardis, but you will come home to a mailbox full of these new ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com messages. St Anne is a small place, so we may not have any problems. We will have to take a wait and see attitude to see if we experience any growing pains. Audrey
