I have slightly revised Rootsweb's official description of our list to include countries of origin for our emigrant ancestors and also Illinois county names; this description will appear in RootsWeb's lists, Cindy's List of Links, John Fuller's list, etc. Here, FYI, is what we're all about: <<<ILSTANNE. A mailing list that concentrates on the genealogy and related family/regional history of the French-speaking families who emigrated to Illinois in the mid-1800s (mostly from Quebec, but also from Belgium, Switzerland, etc.) to establish the town of St. Anne and other towns in the St. Anne vicinity (Kankakee and Iroquois counties). We follow those families back to their earliest origins and track them forward as they move to other states - notably Kansas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
