    3. Welcome, Rolayne! Well, looks like you fit right in, even if you have a bit of the Scandinavian blood in you. I hope you did better than me and inherited at least an inch or two of height from the Scandinavian side, unlike me (I'm 1/8 Norwegian with several female cousins over 6' tall and a great-great-grandmother who it was said was 6' tall!). I inherited the short stature from all my OTHER nationalities. Although, I guess I inherited BIG FEET from either the French-Canadian or German or Irish side -- it came from Dad's side, that's all I know. (He is 5'6" with size 10EEE feet -- I'm 5'2" with 10W feet -- but when I go out, or sing I get HIGH heeled shoes to use some of my feet to give me more height. LOL) Okay, onto genealogy. . . >From the Kankakee Valley Genealogical Society's transcription of the 1860 Kankakee Illinois Census, p. 13 Kankakee Township 170/158 Peter BECK 39yrs School Teacher Canada Saloma 34 Wife " Merminie 12 " Eludis (f) 10 " Peter 8 " Joseph 6 " Josephine 4 " Virginia 2 Ill. Saloma 1 " There's a Peter "PORK" (32yrs) also born in Canada, wife named Julia in household 166/156 I don't know if this is the same surname or not. In Rev. Albert Ledoux' book French Canadian Families of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties, Illinois, at the end of his book he gives possible marriages from Qubec Parish records for some of the early French-Canadian settlers of Kankakee and Iroquois counties. He gives these: BECK, Peter (??) & Julienne GERVAIS, 23-4-1844, Napierville. BOURQUE, Pierre & Josephte ARCHAMBAULT, 6-5-1821, St-Roch/Achigan (that would be 6 May 1821) I checked the Illinois Marriage Database online to see if there was a marriage for Peter BECK & Salome CLOUTRE, but didn't find one (in case the marriage between Peter BECK & Julienne GERVAIS was a first marriage and the one with Salome was a second marriage that occurred here in the U.S. -- of course not ALL early Illinois marriages are in there). I have the feeling that I didn't find anything you hadn't found. I would recommend also subscribing to the [email protected] -- it's very large with a lot of helpful people on it. I guess I wasn't much help. Brenda Hbert __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Faith Hill - Exclusive Performances, Videos & More http://faith.yahoo.com

    3. Hi Brenda, I was courious about Peter Beck & Julie Gervais (married April 23, 1844 in Napierville, QC, Canada) also as Julie is the sister of my Soloman Gervais. I have his parents as Pierre Beck & Josephte Juneau. But this is information I received from someone, I have not researched it. I wonder if Rolayne's Peter Beck and mine are one and the same? I don't know when Julie died. Brenda Hbert wrote:Welcome, Rolayne! Well, looks like you fit right in, even if you have a bit of the Scandinavian blood in you.
