Generally, families moved together - the travel was easier; getting settled was easier. The decision to leave: well, someone gets a bright idea and/or hears about some wonderful place - other families get intrigued - cousins and friends join in - and pretty soon a group of 10 to 20 sets out for the new location. Human nature, it's always with us! It just takes that first letter or tale told about the greener pastures somewhere else.....
