A vague family story reported that my gggrandfather Moses LaFountain went to Fowler because of "some religious ruckus" involving Fr. Chiniquy. He may have remained Roman Catholic (his son Lewis is buried in the Catholic cemetery near Fowler). Could there have been a group emigration from IL to IN connected with the reaction and unrest surrounding Fr. C's activities? I know my family was divided over religious issues for generations.
