Thank you very much for the info on the schools. A little clearer picture is starting to form for me. I think that I am looking at approximately 1857 to 1868 although none to certain on the latter date. From the number of fires it seems unlikely that early records would still exist but if you have any thoughts or suggestions where I might try looking............ Thank you again Rolayne
Rolayne - Anything to do with a town hiring people would probably be included in the minutes of the meetings for the various boards. I've never done this kind of research in Illinois, so I hope another lister can help you out. I live in Massachusetts. Our town library has published books containing records of the town- annual town reports which outline how they spent their money. My son did a report on the history of the schools, many years ago, and found a lot of information in these books. Sometimes the teachers were named. In other places, these kinds of records are at the city & town halls. If no one can help you, I would start at the Village of Bourbonnais web site http://www.villageofbourbonnais.com/main.cfm [That's where I found some of the information] You will see a link to the village administrator - I would start there, and ask where you could find these kinds of records. They may be kept in the town somewhere or else you might find them at the county level. That web site also has a note on the main page about this book you could try to find this book at your library - "The Village", The Story of Bourbonnais, by Adrien M. Richard, c. 1975. I also found an Historical society [should be one long link] http://www.museum.siu.edu/university_museum/museum_classroom_grant/Museum_Explorers/school_pages/bourbonnais2/ and the library - http://bourbonnais.lib.il.us/ Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: <Candismom@aol.com> To: <ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2005 11:05 PM Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] RE: Regnier/Graveline - Community School > Thank you very much for the info on the schools.
