Promoted to Full Lieutenant 1st Class on 19 February 1865 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This was Charles Achille (or Albert) CHINIQUY, born 1846 to Achille Chiniquy and Luce Fraser. Fr. Charles Chiniquy, brother of Achille, was Charles A.'s uncle. Company K marched south, engaging in some spatters of guerilla warfare on the way (according to the regimental history) - then ended at Andersonville, the notorious Confedrate prison where Union soldiers were held under inhumane conditions (or so the story goes - the Confederate captors were probably little better off). I think Co. K assisted in escorting the freed Union prisoners back to the North. Charles A. married Stella Russell and left no issue. Thanks for reminding me of my OTHER Uncle Charlie, apparently an interesting guy.
