I've been looking into Etienne [Stephen] Regnier [Regne] service in the Civil War. He enlisted on November 18 1861 at the age of 68, with Company E, 53rd Infantry Regiment, Illinois. Along with Stephen, I found these men who enlisted that day, so I thought I would send them along in case there is a connection for anyone. Louis Regne [Etienne's son or brother, but I'm leaning toward son] John Goudreau Benjamin Trombly Joseph Trombly Venzenz Bonner, Enlisted in Company Ford's, Indpt Cavalry Regiment Illinois on 01 January 1862. This one signed up the next day Nov 19, 1861 Name: Samuel D Lyster There isn't any identifying information but if you know these are your people, I can send you some information on the regiment, and the battles it took part in. Bonjour Lisa, I am assuming you have local civil war records. Do you have anything on my Great, Great Uncle, Napoleon L'Ecuyer of the 76th Illinois Regiment. He was also a member of Whipple Post, G.A.R. Napoleon is either buried at the St. George Catholic Church Cemetery or at the "New MBV Cemetery in Bourbonnais. If you have anything on him or the history of his Regiment, battles, etc., I would appreciate it. Thankyou. Don Granger. -----Original Message----- From: Lisa Lepore <llepore@comcast.net> To: ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 24 Jun 2005 23:37:29 -0400 Subject: [ILSTANNE] Civil War - Kankakee residents - Company E 53rd Regiment I've been looking into Etienne [Stephen] Regnier [Regne] service in the Civil War. While you are at it could you all keep your eyes open for an Antoine St. John or St. Jean? I have been looking but have not found record of his service. He was supposed to have been injured and died soon after of those injuries. He was buried 23 Oct. 1867 in St. Anne, Kankakee county, IL. He is my great great grandfather. -Cyndi Sweet
