He enlisted on November 18 1861 at the age of 68, with Company E, 53rd Infantry Regiment, Illinois. Along with Stephen, I found these men who enlisted that day, so I thought I would send them along in case there is a connection for anyone. Louis Regne [Etienne's son or brother, but I'm leaning toward son] John Goudreau Benjamin Trombly Joseph Trombly Venzenz Bonner, Enlisted in Company Ford's, Indpt Cavalry Regiment Illinois on 01 January 1862. This one signed up the next day Nov 19, 1861 Name: Samuel D Lyster There isn't any identifying information but if you know these are your people, I can send you some information on the regiment, and the battles it took part in. Sorry, I found the info. Stephen was the son of Louis and Sophie Romaine Falcon. -->He enlisted in the army in 1861 with the Illinois E Co. 53rd Inf Reg out of Kankakee at the age of 68 and gave his age as 50 instead of 68 and his name as "Regné"! He was discharged the following year for poor health! Lou - That's him - married 2ce Marie Therrien - 14 April 1817 at L'Acadie, then to Josephte Josephte Labonniere=Manseau [widow of Pierre Gaboriau] 14 May 1839 Etienne is my Regnier-Gaboriault connection. He was the father of Flavie Regnier who married Gabriel Gaboriault Flavie & Gabriel were stepsister & brother....
