Joseph Boisvert (1) was born about 1795 in Canada (2) , died on 21 Jun 1852 in Kankakee County, Illinois (3) and was buried in Maternity Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery In Bourbonnais, Illinois (4). Other names for Joseph were Joseph Greenwood, Joseph Boisverd (1, 5). Noted events in his life were: 1. Alt. Birth; 1797; Quebec, Canada. (4) Joseph married Askankogwa __________, daughter of Antoine Chayer and Louise Dessin St. Pierre, on 18 Feb 1822 in St. Leon Le Grand, Maskinoge County, Quebec, Canada (4). Noted events in her life were: 1. Alt. Birth; Abt 1800; Quebec, Canada. (6) Askankogwa is an Indian name.... Her name was also found as Agnes, plus Archange Chaguier, Archange Caille, Archamplia Caille, Archange Cayer, and Archange Gagne. Children from this marriage were: 2 F i. Emilie Boisvert (7). Emilie married Francois Vervais on 9 Nov 1856 in St. Anne, Illinois Catholic Church (7). 3 F ii. Vitaline Boisvert (7). Vitaline married Joseph Dionne on 9 Dec 1855 in St. Anne, Illinois Catholic Church (7). 4 F iii. Almeda Boisvert (5) was born about 1825 (5). Almeda married <Unknown> Menan. 5 M iv. Joseph Boisvert was born about 1829 (8) , died on 22 Dec 1901 (8) and was buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Nebraska (8). Joseph married Tillie <Unknown>. 6 F v. Marie Boisvert (7) was born in 1833 (9) , died on 8 Oct 1910 (9, 10) and was buried in Nelson Cemetery, Nelson Township, Cloud County, Kansas (9, 10). To date, all records show Marie was born the same year as her brother Calixte Boisvert. More research is needed to find her correct year of birth. Marie married Joseph Charles Levesque on 21 Nov 1853 in St. Anne, Illinois Catholic Church (7). 7 M vi. Calixte Boisvert (11) was born on 23 Jul 1833 in Quebec, Canada (12) , died on 17 Jun 1916 in Leavenworth, Kansas (13) and was buried on 18 Jun 1916 in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Nebraska (14). The family story tells of Colice being 1/8 Indian. He worked as a farmer. Colice could not write, therefore he signed his name with an "X". Colice received his Naturalization papers and JUDGE W. F. Carter declared him an U.S. citizen on 8 May 1884 in the County of Clay. The papers state that he came to the U. S. before he was 18 years of age, from Canada. This means it would have been before 1851. He died at the home of his daughter, Mary "Fanny" Peterson. She lived at the corner of 4th and Santa Fe Street in Leavenworth, Kansas. His body was shipped to Emerson, Nebraska. Colice used the name Greenwood while living in Illinois. He used the name Boisvert on his homestead in Cloud County, Kansas from 1877 to 1885. His naturalization papers in 1884 show he used Boisvert. On the 1880 census he used Greenwood and his death certificate in 1916 reads Greenwood. The headstone in Emerson has the name as Colice and Aurelia Greenwood. Calixte married Aurelie Lagesse, daughter of David Lagesse and Marguerite Dumas, on 5 Mar 1855 in St. Anne, Illinois Catholic Church (15, 16, 17). 8 F vii. Aurelia Boisvert (5) was born about 1834 (5). 9 F viii. Merry Boisvert (5) was born about 1835 (5). 10 F ix. Amelia Boisvert was born on 1 Nov 1836 in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa (5, 14) , died on 4 Apr 1913 in Dakota County, Nebraska (14) and was buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Nebraska (14). Another name for Amelia was Emily Greenwood (18). Noted events in her life were: 1. Alt. Birth; 1841. Amelia married Jean Treffle Provancha, son of Louis Provancha and Appolene Beland, on 28 May 1869 in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa (1). 11 F x. Diloma Boisvert (19) was born on 12 Jul 1838 in Montreal, Canada (5, 20) , died on 18 Mar 1932 in Dixon County, Nebraska (20) and was buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Nebraska (20). Noted events in his life were: 1. Alt. Birth; Jun 1842. (19) Diloma married Charles Zapp about 1867. 12 F xi. Heneretta Boisvert was born about 1841 (5). The name Heneretta could have been something else. Her birth may have been 1844. 13 F xii. Matilda Boisvert was born about 1844 (5) and died about 1860. <end>
