    1. LAMONT, PROULX marriage, 1854
    2. I am looking for info about the marriage of Michael LAMONT to Balbine Florence PROULX in Bourbonnaise on Sept 24, 1854. I have heard that Michael's full name was Michael "Marine" LAMONT dit NORMANDIN, that he was the son of Louis NORMANDIN and Judith MONTMARQUET of Quebec, that he was Catholic, that he was born in Vermont in 1827, and that he was a descendent of the Scottish clan LAMONT who spoke with a strong brogue!! I am trying to reconcile these various facts. In 1860 they appear in the census in Arcola, Douglas County. His children (all with surname LAMONT) were Belle Sophia, born Nov 1855; Maximillian, born Sept, 1857; Agnes, born 1859; Felix Albert, born Aug, 1861; Mallick, born Feb, 1864; Gideon, born March, 1866; and Julius, born 1868. I have info that Belle and Max were born in Kankakee, but am not sure of the others. I would be interested in birth/baptismal info for Max, who is my ggrandfather. I am also interested in confirming that Balbine's parents, Louis and Francis PROULX, died in Kankakee, she on May 30, 1885, and he sometime thereafter. Could you suggest a source for obituaries for them?

According to the IRAD, marriage records were not required to put the names of the parents until 1878 so you might have difficulty finding the parents names unless someone on the list can find a record of them or has them already. Francois and Joseph were deffinetly using the name CARRIER while in Illinois. Good Luck, Carol Anne

    1. Joseph and Francois Coyer
    2. Steve and Cindy Radway
    3. Francois Coyer (Carrier) and Joseph Coyer were possibly brothers. Francois Coyer was born about 1820, in NY or Vermont. On 19 May 1846, he married Rose Boudreau, daughter of Antoine Boudreau and Marie-Anne Michel, sister to Flavie Boudreau Chartier. By 1847, Francois and Rose Coyer were living in Iroquois Co., IL. He died in St. Anne, Kankakee Co., IL, on 12 Jun 1898. Joseph Coyer was born on 3 Aug 1822 in Vermont. About 1846, he married Marie Emelie Chartier, daughter of Antoine Chartier and Marie-Francoise Boivin, sister to Placide Chartier. At the time of the 1850 census, they were living in Addison Co., VT. About 1854, they moved to Kankakee Co., IL. About 1855, Joseph and Emelie had a son named Placide Coyer, born in Aroma, Kankakee Co., IL. Emelie Coyer died about 1856. On 20 Feb 1860, Joseph married again in Kankakee Co., to Rosa LaCoste, daughter of Michel LaCoste and Rosa Sigo/ Sigault. After the Civil War, the family moved to Saline Co., KS, and later to Lincoln Co., OK. Joseph died on 21 Jul 1921, in Prague, Lincoln Co, OK. We would like to find marriage records for Joseph and Francois in order to find their parents' names. We do not know exactly where they were married, though. Can anyone suggest a place to look? Thank you. Cindy Radway

    1. Mention of St. Anne in Bush's speech
    2. This morning's paper said that in his Memorial Day speech Bush mentioned and quoted three service members who had died in Iraq. One of these was Ryan Beaupre of St. Anne, the first casualty of the war. Does any of our Internet wizes know how to find the whole text of the speech? ---bob in monterey

    1. my summer plans -- kind of ot, but pertaining to kankakee
    2. Brenda Hebert
    3. hey everyone! sorry for no caps, here. I have been planning a coast-to-coast bike trip this summer, leaving Westport, WA around the 18th of june, and landing in the kankakee area hopefully the first day of the kankakee county fair (8/3?). Don't know how long i'll be in the kankakee area, but at least through the weekend. then heading to chicago, maybe and getting a ride from my dad to southern illinois, unless I pedal it myself. Right now my trip plans may be postponed, though, as last Saturday night I fractured my right wrist. Hoping it's small enough that it will heal quickly enough to start on time. Anyways, would love to meet friends and cousins when (if?) I get to the Kankakee area, or if anyone lives along the route I'm taking -- will finish in NYC (by way of quebec). ~~Bren~~ Ardis Boone <ardymae@comcast.net> wrote: What has happened to the listers, or is it my computer??? ==== ILSTANNE Mailing List ==== You can search or browse the ARCHIVES of any RootsWeb list at: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl ============================== Jumpstart your genealogy with OneWorldTree.
