    1. Re: [ILSTANNE] Carriere
    2. Cindy, Thanks for posting all of this information. I am currently going through it and comparing it with what I have. Once we get through all of this, I think some mysteries will be solved. I've just started and already found new connections. Jan -----Original Message----- From: Steve and Cindy Radway <radway@apex2000.net> Sent: Jun 7, 2005 2:19 PM To: ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] Carriere Paula and Jan, I was astonished to see that Marie-Anne Carrier is buried in Kankakee Co. because I just couldn't imagine that she would make that long trip. Here is a rough descendancy chart for Francois-Xavier Carrier's family. I am hoping to be able to prove that Joseph was the brother of Francois-Xavier. Then I can add many other Coyers to this chart. Corrections and additions are surely welcome: this is a working outline. We want to thank all of you for your help! This is, indeed, an unusually helpful list. Cindy 1-Joseph Carrier, Rev. 3. Paula and Jan, I was astonished to see that Marie-Anne Carrier is buried in Kankakee Co. because I just couldn't imagine that she would make that long trip. 2. Cindy, You are more than welcome. I only wish that the census lookup added more information than confusion! I must say I am really impressed with the wealth of information you have sent! Thank you very much!!! We had encountered some of these Coyers in our research and didn't know where they belonged. Joseph was quite an interesting character - I had no idea. Thank you for sharing! 2. Hi Cindy, You already have the death date for Francois Carrier as 12 Jun 1898. He is listed in the St Anne Catholic Cemetery listing under the spelling CARRIERE, Francois. Birth date is not listed but there is a note that he was 74 when he died which makes him born around 1824. You might send for a copy of the death record. I can't find any record of the death of Rosalie who was born in 1864 but is not listed in the 1870 census. It looks like Ardis Boone was having alot of trouble transcribing the death records that took place around that time as there are some missing entries but, for now, you can assume that she died very young. The records for the First Presbyterian Cemetery do not show any listing for her either. Isn't is just amazing how much information you can gather in just one day. Genealogy is soooo much fun. Carol Anne

    3. Jan, Thank you so much for checking HeritageQuest and for sending all that extra information! 1)I think that the birth date and place given are from family records and came from Joseph Coyer himself to children and grandchildren. I don't know what would explain the big differences in age compared with census records. 2)Rosa's birthdate is in my notes below. 3)I didn't know about Rosalie until yesterday, but I will look. I appreciate all of your efforts! Cindy Here are my notes for the family of Joseph Coyer/Carrier: JOSEPH C. 1. Re: [ILSTANNE] Joseph and Francois Coyer
    2. Regarding the information Carol Anne wrote (copied below), it appears that this family was enumerated twice in a span of about a week. To make matters worse, they ignored a couple of children and slightly altered some of their ages from one record to another. This is what I found using HeritageQuest: The family appears under Joseph CARIER (although HeritageQuest interpreted it as CARRER) as Carol Anne listed below (I believe her info. may have come from Ledoux). This is Series: M593 Roll: 238 Page: 268; House: 73, Family: 77. They also appear under Joseph CARRIERE in Series: M593 Roll: 238 Page: 274; House: 154, Family: 163. In this second entry, the family is listed as follows: CARRIERE Joseph 36 Canada Rose 26 Canada Charles 5 Illinois Isilda 4 Illinois Jule 3 Illinois Henry 3/12 Illinois Marie 15 Illinois As you can see, the ages of Joseph, Rose, Marie and Charles changed by 3-4 years, Jule's age was off by 1 year, Henry/Honore stayed the same. In addition, Marie appears to be born in IL, which is probably not true. Sons Placid and Joseph did not appear in this version at all. It appears that the version given by Carol Anne is more accurate (because it mentions everyone and certain birth years are corroborated by other sources I have seen). Three questions though: 1) Does anyone have any idea when Joseph (the father) was really born? I have seen 8/3/1822. The census ages would imply either 1831 or 1834, leaving a pretty big gap (although I know they can be really off!) 2) Does anyone know when Rose (the mother) was born? 3) Does anyone know the fate of Rosalie the daughter (baptism record given by Carol Anne). She didn't appear in 1870. I don't find a record of death in the ledger, but I'm assuming she didn't live to 1870. Thanks!
