    3. Thanks Cindy I didn't have their date of marriage. Francoise Cheffre is listed in Chiniquy's Reg. of Com....15 April 1881 age 14 along with his brother Alfred age 16. Antoine and Marguerite appear to be followers of Fr.Chiniquy at that time. 3. Note of Interest: Moise Antoine Cheffer husband of Mary Regnier and Francis/Frank Cheffer husband of Rose Regnier were half brothers. In my mother-in-laws family the story of brothers marrying sisters was well known. Moise father was Charles Cheffer, Franks father Joseph Cheffer, their mother Emilie Chaucie. I was missing Frank's month /day of death...many thanks. Audrey Florentine

    3. Welcome Don to the List from another Cheffer researcher...I am the other Audrey (Florentine). Haven't been very active due to a move from our home of 33 years to a condo in the same area. My husband's great grandmother was Emilie Henriette Cheffre born 28 May 1856 in St. Anne to Charles Cheffre and Emilie Chausse. Charles died in 1863 and Emilie married her brother-in-law, Joseph Cheffre who was a widower, on 9 February 1865. Their oldest child was the Josephine Cheffer who married Antoine Goyette and moved to Royal, Clay County, Iowa. Josephine remained a Catholic while her parents and most of her siblings were followers of Fr. Chiniquy. I too have extensive Cheffer files and a tin type of the family patriarch, Joseph Cheffre who was born in Montreal/10 February 1798 and married Henriette Tessier dit Lavigne 23 October 1820 at Notre Dam/Montreal. Henrietta's ancestry goes back to Urbain Tessier who received the 8th grant made to an individual in the island of Montreal. There is a plaque on the bank across from Notre Dame in old Montreal commemorating this. It would be interesting to know how many of our listers trace their ancestry to Urbain. My husband and our adopted son both share Urbain as a 9th great grandfather! We would never have know if I hadn't been hooked on genealogy. Happy to help any way I can. There is a Cheffer buried in our Town of Maine Cemetery/Park Ridge, Illinois but I have not been able to identify him. Audrey Florentine

I am sure several other members must have a closer connection to the Cheffers. The name is very familiar. You might also want to check the old Archived list for Cheffer messages from previous years. I checked my databases....and only came up with one Cheffer. I don't know if this Josephine is related (as I do not have her parents names). I will send you more data if it is of interest to you. Josephine was baptized St. Anne on 13 January 1867 by C. LaFontaine. Her sister Julia was married to William Forgue. 1 Josephine Cheffer b: May 17, 1866 in St Anne IL d: Oct 10, 1912 . +Antoine Goyette II m: Sep 10, 1887 St Anne IL b: Jul 30, 1865 in St Anne IL d: Jan 17, 1946 2 Edward Goyette b: 1889 2 Arthur Goyette b: 1890 in Iowa ... +Louise b: 1896 in Iowa 2 Lloyd Goyette 2 Vernon Goyette 2 Lester Goyette b: 1898 ... +Louise Ramsey 2 Ollie Goyette b: 1900 2 Elmer Goyette b: May 07, 1893 in Iowa ... +Marie b: 1896 in Iowa 2 Donald O.
