    3. Thanks for adding to this entry - I saw his name, so I had to send him along. As you can see there is very little information to identify a person, but the site says they are adding to it all the time. I think the idea is to combine data from all kinds of Civil War data sources for the "regular" folks [not just the officers] and link it all together into one source of information. I mentioned these sites in my message to Don, but worth mentioning again - all of them free The Illinois Civil War Project - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilcivilw/ and state of illinois on line databases http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/datcivil.html Soldiers and Sailors of the Civil War http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/index.html Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: <VCrawf@aol.com> To: <ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 11:50 AM Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] Civil War data - Charles A. 3. While you are at it could you all keep your eyes open for an Antoine St. John or St. Jean? I have been looking but have not found record of his service. He was supposed to have been injured and died soon after of those injuries. He was buried 23 Oct. 1867 in St. Anne, Kankakee county, IL. He is my great great grandfather. -Cyndi Sweet

    1. Re: [ILSTANNE] Civil War - Napoleon L'Ecuyer - 76th regiment
    2. Lisa Lepore
    3. Don - I was originally searching in a database I just discovered at ancestry.com, but I found Napoleon in only one place http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/index.html they also listed an alternate name - Napoleon/Lecuier I found this in the databases that the state of illinois has on line http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/datcivil.html could be him - FECERIES, NAPOLEON PVT D 76 IL US INF BOURBONNAIS While this may be a correct surname, I've never seen it before....... The information at ancestry is not completed yet, so maybe he will show up at a later date. The closest entry they have right now is for Name: Napoleon Lemier , Residence: Bourbonnais, Illinois Enlistment Date: 28 July 1862 Distinguished Service: DISTINGUISHED SERVICE Side Served: Union State Served: Illinois Unit Numbers: 399 399 Service Record: Wounded Enlisted as a Private on 28 July 1862 Enlisted in Company D, 76th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 22 August 1862. Mustered out Company D, 76th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 22 July 1865 in Galveston, TX I'm not sure if this would be him, since Lemier is an actual surname, so maybe not a transcription error, but it was the only Napoleon from Bourbonnais listed in the ancestry database. There were 3 Napoleons from St. Ann, but they were in a different unit. I did find some information on the 76th Infantry. The Illinois Civil War Project - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilcivilw/ info on the 76th is here - including regiment history from 2 different sources. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilcivilw/reg_html/076_reg.htm with a history of the unit here http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm You can order Napoleon's records on line now from NARA http://www.archives.gov/research_room/obtain_copies/veterans_service_records.html Hope this helps some, Lisa llepore@comcast.net ----- Original Message ----- From: <dgranger02@aol.com> To: <ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 2:28 AM Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] Civil War - Kankakee residents - Company E 53rd Regiment > Bonjour Lisa, > I am assuming you have local civil war records. 2. Frances Powell
    3. Hi Gerry, I just have one Albert Ledoux in my database: Albert Ledoux, born 05 Aug 1912 in Belle Prairie, Minn. He was the son of Hector Ledoux and Mary Ann Doucette. He married (1) Veronia Boser 25 Jan 1937. Hector's father was Joseph Ledoux, who was born in Illinois. I suppose this Albert could have moved to Illinois, but I note that both his children were born in Minnesota. About when would your Albert LeDoux have been born? Oh, the Albert Ledoux who submitted information to the LDS archives is more than likely Father Albert Ledoux who is descended from the branch of the family that migrated to New England instead of Illinois. He's younger than I am (maybe in his late forties or early fifties.) He teaches church history in a Catholic seminary which is (I think) located in Massachusetts. He's not your Albert. However, genealogy is his passion, and I believe he is the foremost authority on the Ledoux's. Since the Ledoux/Ladoux's in Illinois are all related, we should be able to find your Albert if we just know his age. In my Grandfathers obituary I noticed one of the guests was Albert LeDoux. He was listed as my Grandfathers stepbrother from Illinois. My Grandfather was Antoine Louis Lmbert, from Concordia, Kansas. I know that A. L. Lambert's mother was Catherine Breault, from Bourbonais, Kankakee, Illinois. Can you shed some light on Albert Ledoux? In my researching, I ran across the Name Albert LeDoux as submitting information to the LDS genealogy Archives. 3. Cindy, I wasn't making a connection to Marie-Anne Carrier until I saw your outline. My great-great grandfather was Jean Baptiste Ledoux, son of Michel Ledoux and Catherine Sigo. How exciting to find this connection! I have worked on the Ledoux line and can share that with you if you like. Jean (John) had 12 daughters (one was a step-daughter.) It was a family story that when he retired he spent a month a year with each of his daughters. My great aunt remembers him visiting when she was a child, and remembered him singing a French nursery rhyme to the children. She could remember the words and sing them, but didn't know what they meant. I wish I had recorded her singing it. By the way, my brick wall is Jean's first wife, Marie Payey. If you come across anything that would help me identify her parents I would be most grateful. She had three daughters. The youngest was my great grand-mother, Agnes Ledoux McGee, who I can remember. I also have pictures of Agnes, Jean, and Michel and Catherine Sigo. Here is a rough descendancy chart for Francois-Xavier Carrier's family. I am hoping to be able to prove that Joseph was the brother of Francois-Xavier. Then I can add many other Coyers to this chart. 3. Hello Frances.
