Hello helpful researchers! Can you please look for birth/baptismal records for Maximillian LAMONT? His Parents Michael and Balbine LAMONT were married in Maternity BVM, Bourbonnais, in Sept, 1854. Her parents, Louis and Francois PROULX, were present. As I have been told, the groom is listed in the church marriage record as Maxime NORMANDIN, but in the civil record as Michael LEMONT. (I have requested a copy of the civil record from IRAD. Can you suggest a way to get a copy of the church record?) Max was born in Sept, 1857, supposedly in Kankakee. In the 1860 census the family is in Douglas County, Arcola TWP, under Mitchel LEMONT. If you find any records for him, please let me know how to get a copy. Lamont Wade

Ginny and Bev, In my case, sort of right, sort of wrong. I've been on a research trip up in New York's Hudson Valley for the last couple of weeks. Lots of success on our Long Island Powells line. But, as far as my St Anne, IL, research, I'm still stumped on who my 2g grandmother Marie/Marguerite Payey/Payai/Paille/etc.'s mother, dad, and brother were. Cyndi's still helping me look, but I'll appreciate all the help I can get. Cyndi - I'll keep an eye out for him in the future - I'd like to find out what the *rewards* were for these men to enlist. It would make sense to me that the last listing could be your guy. If his wife and child had died, he would not have had a family to worry about, and if he were a farmer or farm worker, he may have owned a horse to enable him to join the cavalry? If you want to send for his records, you can do that on line now at NARA [link should be all on one line] http://www.archives.gov/research_room/obtain_copies/veterans_service_records.html I did find a William and George St. John in the pension index, but they don't seem to fit. William W. had a widow Sarah E. and George W. had a widow Louise Sarah and Louise were in Illinois when they filed for the pension, but it looked like William served in Indiana George in NY? If you want these, let me know. Thank you. Just got back from a week of vacation and have not been able to respond. Can you send me the lineage of Henriette Tessier dit Lavigne going back to Urbain. Both Henriett and Joseph are my wife's ancestors. I don't know if you have a digital picture of the tintype but that would be cool if you could send that also. Thank you Don Ladolcetta. Thank you so much. I am curious about that last one. St. John is hard to look up on those indexes. It may be spelled so many ways. St. John StJohn St.John St John SaintJohn Saint John St. Jean.... All of these dates do not add up. I am suspecting that maybe he did not serve? He seemed to have been quite busy during the 1860's. When did he have time to go to war? Though he could have been injured early on and sent back. Maybe his injuries did not keep him from marrying or having children. 1838 (May 20) Antoine was born in St. Leon le Grande, Maskinonge, Quebec, Canada 1851 Listed in the 1851 census in St. Paulin, Quebec, Canada age 14. 1860 (June 18)Antoine St. John is listed in the 1860 census in Aroma township age 21. He is farm labor for the Beebe family and born in Canada. 1860 (July 25) Antoine St. Jean is listed in the 1860 census in St. Anne at age 22. He is Farm Laborer for Pierre Drolet, his uncle, and they live next door to Antoine's parents, Lewis and Louise (Drolet) St. John. --(A Farm Laborer may have more than one employer within a year and be listed in the census twice.)-- 1862 (March 4) Antoine marries Marie Marite Patnaude 1862 (End of April?) (January 15) Daughter is born January 15, 1863, and wife dies two weeks later. Daughter dies in February. 1863 (October 3) Antoine marries Marie-Anne Exilda Barsaloux 1864 (about January) Son, Antoine, is born October 22, 1864. 1865 (about May) Son, Phillias Aloysis, is born February 3, 1866. 1866 (about December) Daughter, Artemise, is born August 29, 1867. 1867 Antoine is buried October 23, 1867 in St. Anne, Kankakee, IL. -Cyndi Sweet -----Original Message----- From: Lisa Lepore [mailto:llepore@comcast.net] Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 3:07 PM To: ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] Civil War - Kankakee residents - Company E 53rd Regiment Hi Cyndi - I've been looking, but can't find anything.
