    1. [ILSTANNE] RootsWeb problems
    2. Here's some information I just received on another list - this is a paraphrase: RootsWeb has been having some problems with its main listserver, resulting in a backlog of messages on many lists. It is hoped that these messages will materialize today, but they may be badly out of order.. So the word is: be patient; it's not your server's fault! 2. Hello Carol Anne: Thanks for responding so quickly. I do not have a Peter Bonvallet in my Tree, however my Bonvallets are fairly incomplete. It is my Aunt's family. Albert Pierre (1856-1929) was married to Alice Lavisa Porter (1865-1948) in 1889. They had seven children; two of which are related to me. Erv

    3. Dear Ginny, thank you somuch for all the work you have done with the old site and this new one. All though I have had little to contribute up to now Ihave connected with some very helpful people. It is so wonderful to have a more complete picture of our ancestors lives, wherer they lived and how that was for them. Thank you so much for enabling that gift. 1. [ILSTANNE] St. Patrick's Church Records.... Question...
    2. DW
    3. Hi everyone.... I have a question pertaining to a document that Kathye Knight forwarded on to me... the document is the records for St. Patrick's Church in Aurora, Kansas and my question is this.... On many of the names where there should be letters with accents the letter Z has replaced them... What I am wondering is what accent would be above the letter e in the name Timothe which in the document came out TimothZ... I suppose my lack of good grades in high school French is showing here.... Let me know if you have an answer is it é or è or perhaps ê or ë. Perhaps the gentleman that transcribed and translated the documents might be able to help? Thank you in advance... Sincerely, Deborah

    2. Bonjour, St. Anners. 1. [ILSTANNE] My Introduction.... Martin, Landry, Tremblay, Crepeau
    2. DW
    3. Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I recently joined a list for Cloud County, Kansas where I was told I might find my great grandparents wedding information... this information came from a very old address book of my grandmothers where she had listed bits of information that she knew about her family. A woman on the list told me that the genealogy society there has these records for Aurora, St. Joseph, Clyde, Clifton, Linn and Palmer and that they were translated by a man named Bob Gieber from the original Latin and French. She apparently has the data base on her computer. The information on my Great Grandparents marriage is as follows St Peter's Catholic Church Records, Aurora, Kansas. Maurice Tremblay, son of Timothe Tremblay & Florence Crepault (?) from Washington State, married Anna Martin, daughter of Joseph Martin & Julie Landry. They were married 17 Feb 1890 Witnesses Louis Hamel & Emma Guennette, Service performed by Father Pierre Fortier. With this information I have just made a connection with the Tremblay Association in Quebec and found that they have my line from Maurice's parents back... and it can be followed back to the late 1600's. The little book that I mentioned before (my grandmothers) also had the name Kankakee listed as the birth place of her mother Anna Marie Martin. My great grandmother had told my mother that where she grew up there were no people that spoke English... and that it was a small town. I am beginning to think that my great great grandfather Joseph Martin may be the Joseph Martin listed as a land owner in the Illinois registries as owning land in Kankakee, which was purchased in 1868 and 1869. Maurice Tremblay met my great grandmother while she was working for one of his relatives in Chicago, Illinois as a maid. Anna Martin was only 14 when she married my Great Grandfather Maurice, he was 14 years her senior. Anna Marie Martin was 1/4 native American Indian, so if anyone on the list has a family that would fit this please let me know... Either Joseph Martin or Julie Landry were half native. As for me.... my name is Deborah and I live in British Columbia, Canada. Thank you again for the warm welcome and for the wonderful information that your list has already supplied me with. Sincerely, Deborah SEARCHING TROMBLEY or TREMBLAY, Quebec; British Columbia; Saskatchewan; Alberta; North West Territories, CANADA; Washington, Illinois, Kansas, Montana, California, USA; also possible connections in Mexico. 2. In a message dated 2/18/2000 8:01:27 AM Pacific Standard Time, gigli.saw@dplanet.ch (Vance Roy) writes: > I may be on a list that will be of no help. Hope someone can tell me. I > am researching a SALMON family in Sangamon County, IL. Good morning, Vance and all: the ILSTANNE list concentrates on those French-speaking families who emigrated to Illinois in the mid-1800s (mostly from Quebec, but also from Belgium, Switzerland, etc.) to establish the town of St. Anne and other towns in the St. Anne vicinity (Kankakee and Iroquois counties, Illinois). We follow those families back to their earliest origins, if we can, and we track them as they move to other states - notably Kansas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. We look not only for family lines, but also for family and regional history. We are a new list, but an old group. We have been functioning via eMail for a year or so, and just now, when we became a RootsWeb list, we opened for business with 77 subscribers already in place. We are friends and colleagues, all spading the soil in our focus area. As a RootsWeb list, we welcome anyone who thinks he or she may benefit by joining and participating. But since your interest is in Sangamon County, Vance, we may be of no help to you. You may want to look for the Sangamon county list; the address should be on the RootsWeb page that lists the lists. Otherwise or in addition, you may want to stay on ILSTANNE, and we're glad to have you with us. Cheers - er, Salut! 3. Karen, I don't have a marriage date. The information I have comes from oral history as written down about 30 years ago. The age of Napoleon Boudreau would be close to this generation of my ancestor: Ida L'Ecuyer (after 1839, with known birth years for 3 siblings as: 1847, 1852, and 1864) -----Original Message----- From: Kwirsching@aol.com [mailto:Kwirsching@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 15, 2000 7:58 PM To: ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] Hello from Peoria, Illinois Hi Rick: Do you have a marriage date for Napoleon Boudreau and Ida? 1. [ILSTANNE] LaFountain/LaFontaine/Fontaine dit Bienvenue
    2. Lafountain
    3. It has been some time since I joined St. Anne's group and I'm not sure how clear I was in providing relevant info when I joined. I will try again on the new "connection." I am Bill LaFountain (William), son of William LaFountain who was b.1885 in Fowler, IN, and raised in Wellington, IL. In turn, he was the son of Lewis/ Louis LaFountain b.1868 in Kankakee, IL; son of Lewis LaFountain, b. 1844 in Plattsburg County, NY; son of Moise/Moses Joseph LaFountain (AKA Fontaine or LaFontaine) b. 1821 Beloeil, QB.....on through Gabriel (1798).. Augustin(1765....Louis-Augustin (1765)....Augustin Fontaine b. 1718 .....Pierre Fontaine dit Bienvenue b.1668 in Orleans, FR, ......and Jacques Fontaine b circa 1618-28 in Orleans, FR. I have lost track of Moise/ Moses (above), who moved to Kankakee area circa 1850-55. He was married to Amelia/Emelie Lamoureux, and probably preceded her in death. His siblings included : Gabriel, Sophrine, Augustin, Rose, and Philomine, Louis-Napoleon. A ! picture from a Kankakee newspaper shows Amelia and 4 other generations of LaFountains around 1905. She may have remarried after Moise's death. Moise and/or Amelia may have been involved in the St. Anne ecclesiastical reform movement. I would like to have information about Moise and Amelia and "whatever." Note: One generation of LaFountains had some connection (marriage?) with the Jesse and Pearl Legg family who farmed in KK county in 1930s and 40s (+?)

    1. [ILSTANNE] Good Luck on new site
    2. St Anne Researchers, Though we are not that far apart on the map, this is the first I've learned of your work. I want to wish you the best of luck for reaching out to the thousands of researchers who daily seek gen. & hist info from the many IL sites available. By limiting your area of search, you may find a smaller no. of emails in your mailboxes than the state & co. wide lists that have popped up in IL. In the same manner, you'll likely attract those who have already done a good deal of family research (in Europe & in the States), which enables them to do a more narrow search in IL!
