Jack, I don't think this is the Etienne Boudreau I'm looking for. He would be the father of a Marguerite . She was born 1823 in La Colle. Canada. This is the same guy I have. There were several Etiennes. I guess I won't be trying to send that long thing again but I'm going to keep your instructions. Karen
Finally, easy instructions. :-) Will try it tonight as I'm going to have to get ready for work. Thanks bunches and let me know if it arrives. Karen
I bought one at the Kankakee County Historical Society gift shop for about 5 bucks about a year ago. ----- Original Message ----- From: <VCrawf@aol.com> To: <ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2000 9:08 PM Subject: Re: [ILSTANNE] BONVALLET > > Audrey wrote: >>> I believe there was some information and photos on the > BONVALLET asparagus > farms in the "Saga of St Anne". Karen, You sent your entire file(3.6 MB)....however you obviously have version 7.0 and I have 6.0 so my program wont read yours.(boo hoo) I have sent info from FTM before . There is an easier and shorter way. Bring up Marguerite Boudreau on your screen and then click the GEN REPORT button...now click the FORMAT button and choose ANCESTOR now click CONTENTS and choose # of generations you want to show. Your report should now be ready. Click FILE ,then EXPORT GENEALOGY REPORT. Now you can save the report with a name of your choosing. I find it is easiest to save it to C (your hard drive) ...it is easier to find it there. Now send me an e-mail and attach the report. Bonsoir Erv, I have a copy of "The Saga of St Anne" The pictures in the article were taken by Donald Bonvallet. I will be glad to copy the pages for you. I'll let you know how much it is. Hi Tricia, I constantly use the USGS site find places. http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Simply type in the form what you are looking for and it will give you a list of placename matches. Select a likely match and from there you can select a map. For instance, looking for St. George cemetery, I would fill out the form with Kankakee for county, Illinois for state, and cemetery for feature type. If I did not specify the feature type, the resulting list would have pages of placenames in Kankakee county. I would leave the Feature Name blank in this case since I know the feature is in Kankakee County, just in case they spell St. George cemetery differently. After submitting the form, I get a list of all the cemeteries in Kankakee! There I can choose St. George cemetery and I go to the details for that feature. From the details page I have the choice of several maps. If I choose show feature location, I get a page with first a nearly useless large map showing the location in the United States, and then below it (the stupid US maps loads first) and excellent map with a red marker showing the location of St. George Cemetery. Like many map sites, I can zoom in or out. This map is very useful because I can see roads and figure out how to get there if I like. If I choose digital raster graphic, I get a USGS topographic map . (no marker) If I choose digital ortho quadrangle, I get a should get an aerial photo (no marker,) but apparently one is not available for the St. George cemetery. This view is kinda difficult to navigate, even when it is available, unless you have a real map or know the area very well, but in some cases it can be very cool. For fun, go to http://terraserver.microsoft.com/advfind.asp Enter your town or something really near your house. Select go If there is only a Topo Map available Image, and not also a photograph, go back and choose a different area you know well. Choose the Topo Map and then navigate and zoom until you find the location of your house. On the left side of the page, select photo. If there is a photo available for your area, you should be able to see your house. Where photos exist for the Kankakee area, the one I have found are from July, 1997 Lee Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: "tricia.A.Young" <patooch@earthlink.net> To: <ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2000 11:52 AM Subject: [ILSTANNE] Ganeer Twp - St. George Cemetary > I've had a question for awhile and not asked: the KKK Genealogy site > shows a number of my relatives at St. George cemetary and the Locations > says it's in a Ganeer township. Someone was asking about the Beebe family? In 1853, from: http://www.prairienet.org/fordiroq/kankakee/history.htm "Several months after the new County of Kankakee was created, the first election was held. The first elected officials were: Philip Worcester, County Judge; Henry S. Bloom and Orson Beebe, Associate Judges; George M. Stowell, County Clerk; George W. Byrns, Sheriff; and Paul Hathaway, County Treasurer." Patricia
I sent the Etienne Boudreau info, did anyone receive it? It took 20 minutes to download. I guess I don't know what I'm doing. HELP!!!! Karen
I believe there was some information and photos on the BONVALLET asparagus farms in the "Saga of St Anne". Perhaps someone who owns the book would be kind enough to photocopy the pages for you. Audrey Peters
Ardis Boone has written a book on St George Cemetery Records. I should be available from the Kankakee Valley Genealogical Society. Check out their site to make sure. Audrey
I've had a question for awhile and not asked: the KKK Genealogy site shows a number of my relatives at St. George cemetary and the Locations says it's in a Ganeer township. I only know Bourbonnais and Limestone: can anyone point me to a map of Ganeer or otherwise fill me in? Thank you! Patricia
Hello Deborah, I would like to think I can welcome you to Bourbonnais, Illinois, founded mostly by French Canadians, some of whom were mixed breeds. At least, from your description of a small town where no one spoke english, that is what I'm guessing, but it could be true of the whole area, many French Canadiens in this area of Illinois. My mother's family, both paternal and maternal sides, are mixed, mom was from 1/4 to 1/2 in 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, etc. I've found my first intermarriage as early as the late 1600's in Acadia. Bourbonnais is in Kankakee County, not far from KKK the city. I am the first generation of my mother's family to speak english as a first language... For more info on the area, go to the KKK Historical Society site (first link), Dave's Petit Canada website (2nd link) is fascinating and Martin is there. Unfortunately, I don't have Martin's in my tree, and my Landry dates to Acadia. Hope this helps. http://www.kvgs.org/k3gensoc.html http://hometown.aol.com/DJKboysrus/index.html patricia DW wrote: > Thank you so much for the warm welcome. > > I recently joined a list for Cloud County, Kansas where I was told I might > find my great grandparents wedding information... this information came from > a very old address book of my grandmothers where she had listed bits of > information that she knew about her family. > > A woman on the list told me that the genealogy society there has these > records for Aurora, St. Joseph, Clyde, Clifton, Linn and Palmer and that > they were translated by a man named Bob Gieber from the original Latin and > French. There is currently a pre 1920 photo of the St. Anne Jail on ebay (www.ebay.com)up for auction. I tried to send it to the group , but it didn't go through. I think rootsweb doesn't allow attachments to e- mails Anyway if want to see the pic it is item# 263658792. You can type St. Anne into the search box and find it that way, too. Wonder how many of our relatives spent a night in this hoosegow? Dick LeSage
