Dear Audrey, I would also be interested in purchasing a copy of "The Saga of St. Anne," if and when one becomes available. Yes, we all want copies of the Saga of St. Anne - duly noted ! Alas, there are none known to be available at this time. Be sure that when there are, we will all be informed and can order. Please, no more messages on this just now. Here is the latest word so far as I know: Actually, I understand that the Kankakee Valley Genealogical Society is considering making the entire volume available on its web page - such a project is just in the dream stage right now. Keep tuned for more on this possibility - announcements will be made as information is received. Should the KVGS be able to reproduce the SAGA electronically, it could perhaps also be reprinted. Thanks to Marcel Benoit, our book-guy in Quebec, for his knowledgeable comments about the process. I'll send news on the SAGA when I have any. Till then, let's get back to our family lines and family histories. Cheers to all! Ginny Virginia Crawford list owner, ILSTANNE-L@rootsweb.com VCrawf@aol.com
Since I seem to have started this discussion asking about the Saga, I will have a copy if it reprints. Surnames: Bonvallet; Porter; Schoenheider; Gaetzke Erv Uecker Milwaukee, WI
Yes I would like to order a copy also. Bud Swan (Tomsonny)

You can put me down as also being interested in the Saga of St. Anne. Myrna

Marcel made an interesting suggestion about reprinting the Saga of St Anne. Is anyone on the list a close friend of Lois Meier? Perhaps we could get a price quote on what the reprinting cost would be...based on the number of pages and amount of photographs contained in the book. The original book had a paper cover and I believe it was stapled, not bound. Something more durable would be nice. The 150th Anniversary of St Anne will be celebrated in 2000, so there may be a market outside of our research group. 400 copies does not sound like a lot of books to sell. Marcia Stang (Pres of the KVGS) may be able to give us some insight about how the KVGS orders and sells books. They may be interested in this project. Our group of on-line researchers could not undertake this project, but we could give them an idea of how many copies we would be interested in buying. Audrey
Hi folks Your rep from Quebec. Providing the author is agrees, we have excellent facilities to reprint here in Quebec and the prices are more than competitive. Where I live near Sherbrooke, small quantity reprints are normal. As a matter of fact 15 to 400 copies is the rule rather than the exception. Binding can be any style from printed paper to leather if this luxury is needed. As there appears to be a need for the book below, perhaps that avenue is to be considered. In addition to genealogy I am heavily involved as a book person. Still working on my book web, it does not have St Anne books but does have Eastern Townships books some of which are reproductions of rare books. Eventually there will be a lot more French Canadian Books as well. It was mentioned that the The Saga of St. Anne had been purchased at the Kankakee Historical Soc. at one time. I called there today hoping that they might still have some copies...but they didn't. I have also been looking for this book for quite some time. I wonder if the KVGS has a reference copy. Or....if we're lucky, perhaps Lois Meier will still have some extra copies at home. Holly
I believe that they also contain land sold by the railroads to individuals and thus would contain sales in the 1850's and possibly the 1860's. Wheat1199@aol.com wrote: > Thanks for the note. Don: Have found something on Matilda in my Boudreau books. It says that she was a child of Etienne Boudreau III and his wife Adelaide Tremblay. It says their 4th child was baptized at St. Cyprien Church in Napierville, Quebec but doesn't mention his/her name. I'm sure it's somewhere in the book. It says their next 5 children were Etienne IV, Francois Xavier, Matilda, Cyprien, Claire and Joseph. Adelaide died when Joseph was born. Does that help? Karen
Thanks for the note. I know the probate records I want and need someone to search land records in Kankakee/Will (1843-1890) for me. What I'm looking for is too late for the federal land grants in IL that are on-line. -Robbin << www.usgenweb.com >>
Carol Anne, I would love a copy of "The Saga of St. Anne". When I started my research back in the early 1980's... there was not a copy to be found. Please let Lois know how much we would love to see it in reprint. I know I would buy a copy and if they make the price high enough... (Not too high of course) <smile> perhaps the money could go towards the K3 society. (?) Why not try Amazon.com -- I tried this after a trip to New York. It took 3 months but Amazon.com located an out-of-print book that I could purchase and it was reasonably priced. It's well worth the effort.
