I will be making a family history pilgrimmage to St. Anne Aug. 1 to gather information about BONVALLET. I plan to visit the Kankakee Public Library, Kankakee Historical Society, and St. Anne cemeteries. Does anyone have any further suggestions? Does the KVGS have a library? Thanks for your help.

You might want to check out the Cathedral-St. Mary's in Beaverville even if your family was not part of the church. The Courthouse in Watseka has a lot to check out too. Even though I grew up in the area, I had never visited these areas until this year and was really impressed.
Hi BobinMonterey, I am sending you a cc: of this reply, so you don't miss this message on the ILSTANNE-L list. I have been in contact with Bob Bovie and his wife Sandra Beaupre, and she is either your cousin or sister, because he is researching the same BEAUPRE family. His email address is: sandy2b@aol.com If you are interested in the ancestry of Edward's son, Baron's, wife Anita SAINDON, I can help you considerably there. She is my wife's great-aunt! Teresa: Is this Isaac Cyr son of Joseph Cyr (1768-1854) and Maire Josephe Marchand (1787-1836)? --Bob
Rick, Do you have any information on a Kathleen Fortin that was married to Isaac Cyr? They were both buried in Ames, KS and had a child Edward Cyr. I am researching the CYR family and haven't been able to find much on this family. Thanks, Teresa Ashcraft
Hi Bob, I maybe able to help you with Marie Fortin. I need to know more about her. Her parents and any info about brothers and sisters. I have alot on Fortins but need the above info to make the connection. If you want you can e-mail me privately at famlookr@aol.com. Best Wishes, Rick Hanson famlookr@aol.com
Bonjour, listers - here's a gentle suggestion to Bob in Monterey and everyone else too - that a succinct subject line will help to get a message read. For inspiration - think newspaper headlines; when in doubt, use just the surnames. Salut to all! Ginny listowner/administrator - ILSTANNE-L
As a newcomer to the site and to Family History research, here are the St. Anne folks I am looking for: 1. The family of Lucien Beaupre and wife Marie Fortin, who emigrated from Napierville in Quebec in the 1850s. Lucien's grandson was my grandfather, Edward Beaupre, who owned the Beaupre & Sons garage on Station Street. 2. The family of Zephir (Zephirin) Baron and wife Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bennoit (Benoit?). My greatgrandfather Zeph ran a saloon in St. Anne around the late 1800s.

I've exhausted all of the avenues I can think of (short of going to Kankakee, which is not possible at this time). My query is as follows: Lewis & Adaline Russell - I am looking for information on a Lewis Russell (b. abt. 1818-20, Canada) who was married to Adaline Manoher (probably not the correct spelling of her last name but this was the spelling that was found on a 1925 Iowa Census record for Edward, their son). Adaline was also from Canada, and was b. abt. 1828-29. They were married, presumably, between 1842-45 in Canada. After spending some time in Canada, then Vermont (and poss. back to Canada), they eventually moved to Kankakee, IL. and spent a good portion of their lives there. They had 9 children; Peter (b. abt. 1845, Canada), Lewis (b. abt. 1847, Canada), Joseph (b. abt. 1848- 50, Vermont), Nelson (b. abt. 1849-51, Vermont), Adaline (b. abt. 1852-53, Canada). Then, while living in Kankakee, they had Elijah (b. abt. 1856), Edward Francis (b. Aug. 15th 1860), Emily (b. abt. 1862) and Eugenia (b. abt. 1864). My lineage goes back to Edward Francis Russell who eventually moved to Prairie City in Jasper County, IA. at some unknown time in his life. This family (my great-great grandfather) can be found within the 1860 and 1870 Illinois Federal Census for Kankakee County, but I have not been able to find any record of them living in Vermont, or Canada, or any other state prior to, or after, living in Kankakee. After 1870 the whole family just disappears, except for the lineage leading to me from Edward Russell out of Iowa. I hope to make contact with someone who may be able to help me in this endeavor. I'm hoping that this may be one of the families whose origin you may have tracked some how. If you can be of any help to me I'd greatly appreciate it. Hi Everyone! I haven't had a chance to go over the information you've all sent the last few days. We've had out of town quests and I wasn't able to get to my computer. This is in response to Carol Anne's question: <<<<Do you know who the parents are of your Joseph Boisvert who was born in Canada about 1795?>>> Also... Joseph Levesque and Marie Boisvert are mentioned in these records. Kathye <start> Descendants of Jean Baptiste Boisverd First Generation 1. Jean Baptiste Boisverd was born about 1732. Marie Boisvert (7) was born in 1833 (9) , died on 8 Oct 1910 (9, 10) and was buried in Nelson Cemetery, Nelson Township, Cloud County, Kansas (9, 10). To date, all records show Marie was born the same year as her brother Calixte Boisvert. More research is needed to find her correct year of birth. Marie married Joseph Charles Levesque on 21 Nov 1853 in St. Anne, Illinois Catholic Church (7). 7 M vi. Calixte Boisvert (11) was born on 23 Jul 1833 in Quebec, Canada (12) , died on 17 Jun 1916 in Leavenworth, Kansas (13) and was buried on 18 Jun 1916 in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Nebraska (14). The family story tells of Colice being 1/8 Indian. He worked as a farmer. Colice could not write, therefore he signed his name with an "X". Colice received his Naturalization papers and JUDGE W. F. Carter declared him an U.S. citizen on 8 May 1884 in the County of Clay. The papers state that he came to the U. S. before he was 18 years of age, from Canada. This means it would have been before 1851. He died at the home of his daughter, Mary "Fanny" Peterson. She lived at the corner of 4th and Santa Fe Street in Leavenworth, Kansas. His body was shipped to Emerson, Nebraska. Colice used the name Greenwood while living in Illinois. He used the name Boisvert on his homestead in Cloud County, Kansas from 1877 to 1885. His naturalization papers in 1884 show he used Boisvert. On the 1880 census he used Greenwood and his death certificate in 1916 reads Greenwood. The headstone in Emerson has the name as Colice and Aurelia Greenwood. Calixte married Aurelie Lagesse, daughter of David Lagesse and Marguerite Dumas, on 5 Mar 1855 in St. Anne, Illinois Catholic Church (15, 16, 17). 8 F vii. Here's a BOISVERT morsel that may be of interest to some of you: some years ago in central Illinois I knew two women who were close friends and who each married a GREENWOOD - one Greenwood was named Don and had been a well-known U. of Illinois football player. His wife was Mary Jane. Can't remember the other Greenwood's first name, but he married Jane. I do recall that both Greenwood families had once been BOISVERT - a fact that interested me on account of my St. Anne connection. If this is meaningful to anyone, please contact me directly at VCrawf@aol.com. Salut! Ginny
