    3. I agree with Audrey!!! <<<Sounds like Carol Anne wore out her old keyboard typing the Saga of St. Anne. If it's any consolation...we all appreciate the wonderful job you did.>>> Years ago I copied a few pages from Saga of St. Anne while visiting that area. Those copies were like a treasure to me. Now I can have the whole thing. So... Many thanks to Carol Anne. Also - Many thanks to you Audrey for letting us know about the Volumes of "Tanguay" found "on-line". Again.... Years ago I copied some pages from these books that had a lot of valuable information on my family names. Now I have access to the whole thing. This is great!! Some of us old timers get so busy with other things.... We aren't aware of what all can be found on the Internet. Thank you Audrey. Kathye

    2. Sounds like Carol Anne wore out her old keyboard typing the Saga of St. Anne. If it's any consolation...we all appreciate the wonderful job you did. Your hard work has guaranteed that anyone interested in reading the "Saga" will have it available on-line. It also helps to preserve the St. Anne history since the original copies are scarce as hen's teeth. Audrey

    2. Bonjour Everyone, It has been brought to my attention that in a responce to Bob in Montery, I misspelled the name of the father of Nelda Bourgeois. It should be Isaie Bourgeois, not Isai. 2. Merci beaucoup for all the data on the Beaupré-Spénard connection. It would have helped immensely if the records of the folks of yore had been consistent in spelling of names, at least last names. I still think they did it on purpose to confound us. I do have a variance to the data given on the Spénards: o Stanislaus Beaupré, who married Philomene Spénard, also married Adeline Dencan somewhere along the line (according to IL Statewide Marriage Index). I have Stan's kids as: Jules, Wilfred, George, and a possible fourth. I also have some additional data: o For Herminie (aka Arminie, etc.) Spénard, who married Alfred Beaupré, I have DOB of 27 Oct 1847. o For Alfred Beaupré I have a DOB of 3 Feb 1847 (from IL 1900 Census, for what it's worth).

    2. To fine tune it, yes, it was two Guadry brothers and two Poirier sisters, with Ignace in the middle. This was happening in BSA (before St. Anne) time. Those Canucks must have been real sociable.

    1. Re: [ILSTANNE] Beaupre-Spénard Connection
    2. Hi Bob, My mother and I have been researching the SPENARD line for about the past two years. I am going to try to sort this out as best as I can, and hope I don't make it more confusing. If you have evidence that any info I have is incorrect, please advise. Also, I would be thrilled if you or anyone could fill in my "?'s." I am going to do this from the Spenard side, since that is the one I am more familiar with. I will only include Beaupre marriages for the sake of simplicity. ABDON SPENARD and MARIE CHANDONNET had 14 children that I know of: 1. NOE ("NOAH") SPENARD (1/30/1828 - 3/28/1893) 2. AURELIE SPENARD (1/30/1830 - ?) 3. JULIE SPENARD (10/7/1831 - 9/18/1923) 4. MARIE CELINA SPENARD (9/6/1833 - ?) I have that she married ELIE SAVOIE (on 4/20/1859), not Victor Beaupre. 5. FRANCOIS ONESIME SPENARD (1/13/1835 - 3/10/1842) 6. EMELIE SPENARD (6/5/1837 - ?) 7. EDOUARD SPENARD (5/13/1839 - ?) 8. MARIE ADELAIDE ("DELINA") SPENARD (4/25/1841 - 1927) married NOEL VICTOR BEAUPRE (12/25/1843 - 7/3/1928) on 11/25/1862 9. PIERRE SPENARD (? - April 1841) 10. PHILOMENE SPENARD (11/20/1843 - 5/23/1914) married STANISLAUS ("TENNIS") BEAUPRE (6/16/1851 - ?) on ??? [3 children: Jules, Neilida, and Georgium] 11. JOSEPH ZOTIQUE ("PAUL") SPENARD (10/31/1845 - 3/22/1914) married MARIE DELICE DELIMA BEAUPRE (11/14/1851 - 8/18/1898) on 12/26/1870. [12 children: Arthemise, Georgiana, George Joseph, Eva, Della, Edward David, Julia, Joseph Thomas, Anna-Marie, Adele, Maria Antonia, and Unnamed] 12. HERMINIE SPENARD (Abt 1847 - 10/19/1888) married Alfred Beaupre (July 1846 - 10/20/1914) on 1/15/1866 [10 children: Maria, Herminie, Artemise, Victor, Eloise, Eugenie, Alfred, Eduardus, Agnes Elizabeth, and Louis] 13. MARIE JOSEPHINE SPENARD (1/14/1850 - ?) 14. ADELAIDE SPENARD (12/29/1851 - 1/ 10/1853) I hope this is helpful. Shellie Wood

(Not that I think anyone would be crazy enough to download all 7 volumes and overload their hard drive) You can also save only a page or two that you are interested in. You might want to check it out 1st rather than ordering a CD you are not familar with and that may not contain any information on your families. This is very informative: <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Ecanqc/tanguay.htm">Tanguay - Info</A> http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Ecanqc/tanguay.htm The main site link is below, but it would be best to get an overview at the Roots site before going there. <A HREF="http://www2.biblinat.gouv.qc.ca/numtextes/accueil.htm">Bibliothèque nationale du Québec; Livres et partitions musicales</A> http://www2.biblinat.gouv.qc.ca/numtextes/accueil.htm Photos & prints of Kankakee IL. E-Bay currently has several postcard photos and prints of early Kankakee. You do not have to bid on the items (unless you want the originals)...you can "right click" on the photos and save them to your hard drive. This might be of interest to out of state members who have never been to the area. St Anne was very small back then (still is) so much of the business was conducted in Kankakee. There is an 85 year old postcard offered. They are also offering for sale a copy of a beautiful stained glass window from the Frank Lloyd Wright house located there. Once every week or so I take a few minutes to search for Kankakee, St Anne, and other towns I am interested in. I downloaded a photo of the Charles Town, WV courthouse where my g-grandfather served on the John Brown jury. I also found a very old tintype (?) photo showing his brother's blacksmith shop circa 1870. You can occasionally find some very interesting items. <A HREF="http://pages.ebay.com/buy/index.html">eBay Main Categories</A> use the search option and enter Kankakee http://pages.ebay.com/buy/index.html Audrey Peters

    3. For those of you who are familiar with the 7 volumes of "Tanguay", here is a chance for you to obtain your own personal copy. I received my copy yesterday and it is great to have it so handy and not have to drive to the local library to review any quandaries. Below are extracts from their website: http://www.originis.qc.ca/en/tanguay.html Le Tanguay is a CDROM which includes many works of Cyprien Tanguay that were published in the 19th century including : His famous "Dictionnaire Généalogique des Familles Canadiennes" in seven volumes for a total of more than 4,400 pages of genealogical data. The essential Complément à Tanguay by Joseph-Arthur Leboeuf which reports thousands of errors and omissions of Tanguay. This work was first published in 1957 and it had more than 200 pages. In 1977, there was an update which added more than 400 pages. These books are published under licence from the Société Généalogique Canadienne Française. A travers les registres is a work of about 300 pages which contains hundreds of facts that are historically related to ancestors. This information was collected by Tanguay at the time of records perusal. The Répertoire général du clergé canadien contains about 600 pages. This work of Tanguay enumerate catholic-roman clergy members from the beginning of Nouvelle-France up to 1880. This book gives historical and genealogical information of all clerical individuals and parishes where they worked. Le Tanguay CDROM has 11 volumes in their original version for a total of more than 5,900 pages! These books from Cyprien Tanguay are not published anymore and it would cost you hundreds of dollars to get them. Our low price gives you the chance to read these books at home right now. Our price anywhere in Canada : 34.50 $CAN, taxes and shipping included. Our price outside of Canada : 30.00 $US, shipping included. Les Arseneau ACGS #4530
