Marsha: You wrote about possible connection between my Pierre/Peter Beck to your Peter Beck and Julie Gervais. It is always possible that my Peter was married before if perhaps Julie died at a young age. Did you mean Pierre Beck and Josephte Juneau were parents to Peter Beck? When is the last date that you have any info on your people? Rolayne
I am trying to find information on Julia Ducros. She was married to Eli Boudreau, son of Julian Boudreau and Phoebe Cyr. I have been corresponding with a descendant of Eli's second wife, Ellen Sallee, who says that Eli and Julia had a son named Frank. I have not been able to find anything about this son or any children of Eli and Julia. Would anyone have any information on this Ducros family. Following is the information I have so far: Hilaire "Eli" BOUDREAU, born 18 May 1847 in Henryville, St. Jean, QP; died 29 Apr 1895 at his home in the Black Oak Grove neighborhood of Marion Township, Grundy Co., MO. Civil war veteran. Co A 20 IL Infantry. He married 13 Apr 1868 at Second Presbyterian Church (1) , divorced Julia J.DUCROS, born 5 Oct 1851 in St Anne, Kankakee Co., IL, daughter of Louis DUCROS and Adelaide BERGERON; (2) Ellen SALLEE [98], born 1850; died 1941, daughter of James SALLEE and Martha (---). Notes for Julia J. DUCROS: This information found in pension records of Eli Boudreau. It states that Julia filed for divorce in Clay Center, KS. date unknown. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You wrote: what is the Father Ledoux book? > Anyway, thanks so much for all your responses! > You are a great group of researchers! > Adam and Corrie Johnson Bonjour The Father Ledoux book is a 288 page book compiled by Rev.Albert H.Ledoux. It contains abstracts from the Federal Census 1850 thru 1880 for the French-Canadien Families of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties in Illinois. The first edition was printed in 1990 and the first edition ,second printing was printed in 1994. At the request of the listers on this forum there was a second edition printed in 2001. So many of us here have a copy I do not believe Father Ledoux is planning a reprint at this time or in the near future. If you want or need any lookups then just post your request to the group and I am sure that some kind soul will respond to your request. a Bientot Jack Langlois
Thank-you both very much for your replies. I appreciate you looking up the census', Paula, and clarifying the names, Jack! Were names often anglicized for marriages also? Jeanne--"Jennie"? And even though I will sound ignorant--what is the Father Ledoux book? Anyway, thanks so much for all your responses! You are a great group of researchers! Welcome Adam and Corrie, YOU definetly need the Chiniquy Ledger. The gal who compiled it is Ardis Boone(she's on this List) and she has copies available. I found numerous records of interest to you including baptism records of Fermin and marriage records to boot. Dave King
Hi everyone! We just joined your list and have been browsing past queries for the last few days. We have a few questions and hopefully we'll be able to make some connections with your help! Bob and Sandy Bovie, as well as Lars Arseneau, have been helping us to find information on the histories of St. Anne, Papineau, etc but we are still wondering if anyone knows where we can find a copy of Father Chiniquy's ledger so we can look up some ancestors. The histories of the towns and a short biography of Father Chiniquy have helped us to understand a lot of our questions already. For instance: Georgia Chayer married Fred Seivert (Sievert). We were perplexed by how a Lutheran man would marry a Catholic woman until we found out that the Chayer's had converted to Presbyterianism! We also wanted to let you know what surnames we are researching in the area. We are most interested in the Mayeau (Mailloux) and Bauvais side. We are also researching the Chayer (Chaille) and Paloguien (sp?) side. Short genealogy below: Jean Baptiste Chayer (b. 1830, Canada) married Merance Paloguien (b. 1835, Canada). They had several children that can be found on the 1880 Census. We are descended from their son, Fermin Chayer (b. 1857). Jacob Mailloux (b. 1839, Canada) married(1-11-1858, Kankakee County) Melvina Bauvais (b. 1842, Canada). They had several children including two daughters whose names look like Jane and Georgia on the 1880 Census. We are not sure which one we are descended from since the marriage record between Firmin Chayer (spelled Choyer on the IL Marriage Record database) lists "Jennie Mailloux." Any help you can give in clearing up this mystery would be greatly appreciated! This is a great list and we're so excited about being a part of it! Thanks in advance! Adam and Corrie Johnson

Hi Jack: << These " may be ?? " the parents of Alphonse. Etienne Boudreau and Adelaide Trembly, married in 1817 at Ste.Marguerite Church,L'Acadie,St.Jean County,Quebec. >> Thank you for this information, however, I found out through a descendant that Etienne had no son named Alphonse. We really don't know if that is his first or middle name. He had a son named Alfred Alexandre, who was probably named after him. If you find any more Boudreaus in the Kankakee area, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you, Mary Boudreau
