Greetings to all my friends at ILSTANNE Just a quick note to let you know that my web-site is now up and running. The address is www.chiniquy.com You will find a 100 page catalogue of the contents of the personal archive of Father Charles Chiniquy. There are also a few sample images. You may wish to view section 06 (deeds, mortgages) of the catalogue as many of the early family names from St Anne appear here. Everything is available, either as a 19 CD set, or custom orders. My winter project is to catalogue the material that I scannned at the Rare Books Dept of McGill University in Montreal. I need to go back again in the spring to finish scanning. Merry Christmas Allan Pequegnat _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. Happy Holidays! Just did a quick check of the Univ of Montreal site to no avail. What evidence do you have thus far that these 2 girls were daughters of this couple? I noticed on the cursory check I did that their children were born between 1729 and 1751 and Marie Josephe's marriage does not list any parents except her husband's father. Do you have an age at death on both or either one of these 2 girls to do a more specific search? I have this couple in my database with his birth date and their death dates. Joseph is a brother to my direct ancestor, Toussaint. However, I have not collected children of my collateral lines unless they marry into my direct line at some point so I do not have any information on these girls but would be happy to check out some things if you have a little more information as mentioned in the first paragraph. Three or 4 years ago, after a 10+ year and multi-state search for a sister of my grandmother's who had been institutionalized in the early 1900s (the old story of hidden away and forgotten as an embarassment) a search of the 1920 Illinois soundex lead me to the Lincoln Development Center. Their very wonderful staff quickly found my great aunt's record who had been a resident there from 1902 to 1945 at which time she died and was buried on the grounds of the center. They provided me with a copy of her death record and searched for any possible remaining medical records but due to the time lapse, none remained. This was a very exciting find for me and my family to bring this great aunt to life with a history and "bring her back to the family" in memory. I hope this inspires someone else to give this source a try and that they will meet with equal sucess. >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [ILSTANNE] State Mental Institution Records >Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 16:21:32 EST > >A long time ago the group had corresponded about getting records from State >hospitals....especially Kankakee and Manteno. A long time ago the group had corresponded about getting records from State hospitals....especially Kankakee and Manteno. Found this today: RECORD GROUP 258.000 - KANKAKEE DEVELOPMENTAL CENTER In 1877 the General Assembly established the Illinois Eastern Hospital for the Insane and empowered the Governor to appoint a seven-member commission to select a site within northeastern Illinois on which to locate the institution. After selection of a site in Kankakee, three trustees were appointed by the Governor to supervise planning and construction, choose a superintendent, and operate the hospital, subject to inspection by the Board of State Commissioners of Public Charities (L. 1877, p. 21). The hospital opened on September 4, 1879 and began to operate a training school for nurses in 1886. The board of trustees and the Board of State Commissioners of Public Charities were abolished in 1909 when control of all state charitable institutions passed to the newly created Board of Administration. As part of this reorganization the institution became Kankakee State Hospital (L. 1909, p. 102). In 1917 the Department of Public Welfare assumed responsibility for Kankakee State Hospital and retained control until the creation of the Department of Mental Health in 1961 (L. 1961, p. 2666). In 1975 the institution became a center for the care and treatment of the developmentally disabled only. All other patients were transferred to other mental health facilities and the institution became Kankakee Mental Health Center (P.A. 79-581, p. 1895). Listers, I have received a notice from RootsWeb HQ that the KLEZ virus was found in a MESSAGE purporting to be from one of our members. As you know, some of these invaders can take over familiar addresses to use to spread their various infections. Alas, Holly Forgue - yours is one of the captured addresses - there were two others, which I unfortunately didn't record as this all began. I know we are cautious about strange attachments, but now we must look out for messages as well. The subject line is often a tip-off: it may say something like "Merry Christmas" or "How are you?" or "Here's a new game to play" or "congratulations". The ILSTANNE name appears in brackets on the subject line, looking very normal. I am certainly not much of a techie - but I do know that if you get something like this, delete it immediately without opening - and then go on to delete it wherever it may be stored in your computer (eMail files, etc.). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, gang. BUT - if we all are alert and refuse to play this game, it will go away. Cheers to all, Ginny Crawford Administrator, ILSTANNE

Vickie Not related to Foreman that I know of but I am related to the Thibodeau's from Acadia. They named their first three children " Marie" with no middle name.
