    3. Hello: Lots and lots of Caron's mentioned in the St Peter & Paul book published by KVGS. Hypolite was a son of Pierre Paul Caron and Marie Adelaide Caron ("no relation"). "Pierre Paul Caron - Born at L'Islet PQ, Canada, 1805. Came from Riviere du Loup (Lower Canada) to the states and settled in Limestone Township, Section 31, 1848." There is also a chart on page 125 that list the siblings of Hypolite and their children. richard graveline Georgia ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 14, 2003 11:14 AM Subject: [ILSTANNE] CARON / ST GERMAIN > Bonjour Everyone, > > Is anyone on the list researching the surnames CARON & ST GERMAIN. > > I am looking for Hyppolite CARON who married Mathilde ST GERMAIN. 3. Hello: For those who smiled when they read about "wily old Toussaint" I offer the following baptism. Celestine Charbonneau baptised Aug 20, 1829. Parents were "Toussaint and Indian". Recorded in Church of St. Louis King of France, St Louis. And for those who say that St Louis was too far away for a baptism, I want to say that Joseph Graveline who met Lewis and Clark in the Dakotas, had his children's baptisms recorded in St Louis also. Carol Anne Perhaps it would help to locate the St.Germain side. Most marriages occur in the girls parish. There was a Antoine St.Germain and his wife Harriet Wimet who came to Kankakee in 1857 and farmed in Limestone twp. They had nine children seven sons and two daughters. He had a son named Romain ,born 15 May 1846 , at Montreal, married,18 Nov 1874, a Miss Louisa Carrow, the eldest child of Joseph Carrow et Susan Tatro. The parents were born in Canada. The interest here is 1. The St.Germain name in Montreal 2. THe marriage with Louisa Carrow. I believe that the name Carrow is the same as Caron or Carreau in Quebec Province. probably dit names ?? So I would look for the mariage of Hyppolite et Mathilda in and around Montreal. But for this period you will need parish records unless it would be in the Red or Blue Drouin. Clara Caron married Rudolph Chiniquy, my grandfathers brother and I just received a copy of their marriage certificate. It showed Clara's parents as Hyppolite Caron & Mathilda St Germain. They were all in Kankakee. Now, all I have to do it try and hook Hyppolite to his parents in Quebec. Oh what fun Carol Anne

    3. Carol Anne Bonjour et stuff I found a Hyppolite Caron buried 1896 at Mt.Calvary. I searched the following Quebec counties, St jean, Laprairie,et St-Luc parish and no luck I also searched the 1881 census of U.S. and Canada and no marriages What I did find that was interesting. In the 1880 federal census by father ledoux. there was a family .T.Carron age 44 ,born Canada .Mathilda Carron, age 34,born Canada. children were all born Illinois: Andrew 14, Alice 13,Emma 6, Clara 4, Kaus 1. This was the only Mathilda Caron (Carreau) I could find. Perhaps Hyppolite was his middle name as this was given in burial. a Bientot Jack Langlois ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 14, 2003 11:14 AM Subject: [ILSTANNE] CARON / ST GERMAIN > Bonjour Everyone, > > Is anyone on the list researching the surnames CARON & ST GERMAIN. > > I am looking for Hyppolite CARON who married Mathilde ST GERMAIN. 2. Carol Ann and Listers I want to thank you for your help in finding my BOUDREAU ancestors. Because of your help; you gave me the clues that finally paid off today. Today, I found the ancestors of Alphonse Boudreau's wife Cecelia ALLAIN. I am in contact with descendants of Michael ALLAIN my great great great grandfather and they are giving me lots of family history. It was interesting that the Allain family is listed on the St. Anne Saga as being the first family in St. Anne. I think, I read that right. If I didn't, I think you will tell me different. This has been a exciting day and I wanted to share it with people who have helped me so much. Carol Ann, you found the children of Cecilia and Alphonse in Father Charles CHINIQUY'S Ledger and on the baptismal record the godparents were listed. Thanks to you, I can trace my ALLAIN line back to 1647, in France. I also, want to thank the listers who looked up and found censuses for my BOUDREAUS. They were a great help too. Thank you, Mary Boudreau

    3. The History Channel had a great show about the Lewis and clark expedition. The show stated that, "Pomp" was educated by one of the pair of Lewis and Clark, and became the traveling companion of a wealthy European noble. According to the PDRH, Toussaint was born in Boucherville, Quebec, but I would have to go back to find who his parents were. Sacajawea died while still in her 20's. The large, rock outcropping in eastern Montana was named after "Pomp" and is called "Pompey's Pillar". There are, on that pillar, inscriptions written by members of the L&C expedition.
