    1. Re: [ILSHELBY] MILLER SURNAME
    2. Do you know where in TN your Thomas Miller was from? And when he came to Shelby Co? I have a Sarah Miller b. in Davidson Co. 1809 who came to Sangamon Co (Springfield) in 1828 "with relatives." I have been butting my head against this brick wall for a long time. There are Millers in Sangamon Co. but none seems to be the right age to have come with her. She doesn't show up in the 1830 census, though I know she married there in 1835, so she was not the head of a household and must have been living with others. She died in 1850. I would really like to find her parentage. -- "Susan Trisler" <trisler@morningside.edu> wrote: My ggg grandfather was a Thomas Miller. He was born about 1824 in TN. He married and Elizabeth Reed 9/10/1848 in Shelby county, IL. They had children Annie, Mary, Isabella, Catherine, Antonia, Martha, Thomas, and Elizabeth. I believe they also had a son named Amos who died young. Isabella may have died in her 20's without marrying. Antonia married a Lewellyn Helton in Shelby county. Martha(my gg grandmother) married a Wesley Miller in April 1880 in Shelby county. Thomas married an Elvira Parker in Shelby county. Elizabeth married a Franklin Bentz in Shelby county. I know nothing about Annie and Mary or Catharine. Antonia and Thomas stayed in Shelby county and Martha and Elizabeth moved on to Decatur, IL(Macon county). Elizabeth Reed Miller died sometime between 1870 and 1880 and Thomas Miller sometime after 1880. I believe Wesley Miller's parents were an Andrew Miller and a Rosannah Lee. They were married in February 1850 in Shelby county. I believe Rosannah died in 1878 in Christian county. I believe Wesley had a least 1 sibling, her name being Mary. I am trying to figure out who Thomas Miller's parents were and who Andrew Miller's parents were. There was a family of Miller's( father John and son's Lowrey, Thomas, William, John, Abraham and Jesse, I believe) who came to Shelby county from TN in the 1820's and Thomas may be part of that family but I have no proof of that. If anyone else is researching Miller's in Shelby, Macon, Christian, and or Effingham county and could shed some light on my Miller's, the help would be greatly appreciated.
