    1. WILLIAMS AND BRITTON CEMETERY
    2. Barbara Smith
    3. Hello Everyone, Dose anyone know of this cemetery that is now the Williams cemetery that was the Britton. I could use any help you can send my way. I have Nichols and Ginger family members there when it was the Britton cemetery in Shelby Co. ILL. Barbara - I am not familiar with Old Mode or Britton Cemeteries. They do not appear on the Shelby County list. There is a cemetery inscription book with Union in it. It stated that at one time it was called Williams Cemetery. Perhaps others may know of the other two. Listed in Union Cemetery were: Charles E. Nichols and Martha A. Nichols and infants - I found these and am attaching them to this email. Listed also was William H. Nichols, 1889-1861 Hardin Nichols, 1884-1958 Gertrude Strohl Nichols [1887-1969 Johnny J. Nichols [1938 - 1956 I was rushed for time this a.m. and did not find the above four but I am sure they are there. There are a couple of newer Nichols stones which are not in the book. There are no Taylors listed other than Julia A. Taylor. If others are buried there, there are no remaining stones for them. I will not be back down to that cemetery anymore this fall but can check again in the spring, if you will remind me. I don't know where to tell you to find the others. Have you checked for a Britton cemetery in perhaps Fayette or Effingham County. I just don't recognize the name. The following http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/databases.html is a good place to check for deaths after 1916. These records can be obtained by following instructions. The records might give burial places. Anyway, I'll send Charles, Martha and infants by email. Hope these come through without too much time involved in downloading. I cut them down in size and you can enlarge them after receiving them. Good Luck - Eileen
