Lorraine, So, Julianna Todd married James Davis in KY in 1823, and both served as grantors in KY in 1838... Were they (couple)born abt 1800? That would mean everyone listed on the 1850 census for Shelby County, IL would be too young to be "your" Davis line. What makes you think they were in Shelby County, IL in 1850? Are the Todd's on the 1800 census for KY? Hi Bess I do not know when they were born, Juliana Todd Davis' father did not arrive in Bourbon Co KY until 1808 or so. His father John Todd Sr. & John's brother Edward Todd arrived from Fayette Co. PA. 1790. [I have cases on this also] Edward died 1795, John Todd Sr. died 1809, John Todd Jr. Benjamin's brother died 1828 Bourbon Co KY. Benjamin B. Todd then the surviving elder lived near these children in North Middletown Bourbon Co. until some time after 1830 where he bought a lot in Paris Bourbon Co. Benjamin may have had another wife prior to coming to Bourbon Co. There are not many Benjamin's of this time frame anywhere in the US and I have been in touch with researchers of the others Benjamin. lines, so this is like John in this Todd family to many in each generation just to pick one an say this is the right family. The following is what I have that leads me to Shelby Co ILL. I don't know how long William M. Todd and John H. Todd were in Shelby county but they were there on 8th day of 1838, date the court case was written, a copy of which I have from the County Court Records of Bourbon, Deed Bk. 37 pg 241~242, transcription follows. Bourbon County Deed Book 37 pg. 241~242 [personally copied by Lorraine Llewellyn at Paris Court House Bourbon Co KY 2004] 1838 Benjamin B. Todd, Heirs Deed to David R. Williams In. To have and to hold the land premises and appurtenances aforesaid unto the said party of the first part do covenant and bind themselves their heirs executors & assignees _________ to warrant and forever defend the land premises & appentences aforesaid unto the said party of the second part his heirs, and assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony Whereof the said party of the first part have here unto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. John H. Todd, Seal; Wm. M. Todd, Seal; Leticia A. Todd, Seal; James Davis, Seal; Juliana Davis; Seal As you see this is what leads me to Shelby Co Ill. I have so many court cases that involve this family that it is impossible to unwind it all in one email. John Sr. John Jr., Jane Todd widow of Edward are on the 1800 census for Bourbon. By 1833 all of the children of John Sr. and some of Edwards children have left Bourbon Co.KY for Pike Co MO and Pike Co, Ill. along with acouple in Brown and Calhoun Co Ill. All these I have chased down to this generation. Five surviving male members and five surviving female member I am in contact with now.
