Terria, I am descended from William Hooper and Jeroushia Crocker's daughter, Eliza. Eliza married first to William Nance (my greatgreatgrandfather). After he died, she married his brother, Andrew Jackson "Jack" Nance. Note that three children of William and Jerousha, beginning with Mary, are born too close together to be possible. Can't recall (at the moment) what made me determine that Eliza had to be dau of Wm. and Jerousha, but I excluded William's sibling's families. Any info on your end that could clear up the one born late 1829 and two born 1830--mine early? Believe dates for Mary and Eliza are from tombstones in Mudrun. Think the 1850 census figures ages just confuse matters in terms of age. SHERRY
Is this HOOPER family connected in any fashion to William Story HOOPER & America (ROBERTSON) HOOPER? Not sure, maybe Sherry can answer that better than me. I know that there was a Mary Ann Story that married into the Hooper line, he may be off that line. Moses Story married a Bankson and I think they were the parents of Mary Ann. They were from KY....I believe. Sherry, I have some of your information that my cousin Glenda Velon shared with me. Do you mind if I put up some of this info on the www.hooperweb.com site? I know some of it is your Nance line, but it could help some researcher along the way. I am excited to get back into this. I have been finding Hoopers in the early 1700's in eastern NC. I am gleaning all I can and hopefully some connections can be made. I am at such a dead end on James Hooper, William's father. Wish I knew who his parents were!
