I am seeking information on William Greer, first of Pittsburgh, PA, married to Sarah T. R. according to a deed dated 1856. This deed lists them as being from Shelby County, Illinois. I have an old letter which says William and his brother, David Greer, Jr. "went South before the Civil War. When William came North, his sister hid him." I am totally puzzled by this!
