Lynn, I am related to Dori, and my direct lines include Davlin and Nance as well as Hooper, Bankson, Wakefield, Crocker, Lee, and Alexander. I am always looking for "Cousins!" You are most definitely related to us. Your Susannah Wakefield is a different spelling, as we know her as Anna Wakefield, daughter of Martha Rachel Bankson, and Charles Wakefield. Anna Wakefield married a cousin, also named Charles Wakefield. And, I have that Anna married Thomas Pugh, after Charles died. How do the Wakefields tie into your family? All, I have been reading all the Wakefield discussions with some interest. It's been awhile since I've done work on my family, but the Wakefield name was prominent, but not a relative - if memory serves (which is doubtful!), a Wakefield may have lived with my ancestor, Andrew Jackson Moore, and I thought was even buried in the Moore Cemetery in Dry Point Township. Bess' email mentioning the familiar (to the Moore family) Nance name and the fact that she is from NC, prompted me to write. - If any are interested, I'll dig into my old notes and see what I can find on the Wakefields. - Also, as far as I can track Andrew (AJ, Jack) Jackson Moore is to Rutherford Co., NC in the early 1800's. I believe a family member went there to see if he could find anything but, of course, the courthouse had burned sometime in the past. Also, I believe that the county was divided up into several smaller counties. If anyone knows of anything concerning Andrew Jackson Moore (wife Rebecca) prior to settling in Dry Point Township in the 1830's, I would appreciate it. Thanks - first time responder, Ronald E. To all of you who have been so kind as to respond, I must confess that Wakefield is pretty far out on a branch for me. My great-grandmother was Martha Pugh, married to Nelson B. Neil in 1859. It is in tracing the Pugh line that I discovered many Wakefields. If anyone is interested in connections between Wakefields and Pughs or Halls I might have something to contribute. They may have moved together in a group from Chester Co., PA to Randolph Co., NC to Christian Co., KY to Shelby Co., IL. My earliest Pugh, James M., was born in Wales in 1692. Thomas (b.1782) and John b.1809) were born in Kentucky but died in Shelby Co, IL. Martha, my great-grandmother, was born in 1840 in Shelby Co., IL. This is my direct line. I do have some siblings and information about marriages etc. if it is of interest. But not much on Wakefields. LYNN in AZ
