I just joined this list and am hoping that someone out there can help me. I'm searching for information about my great grandmother, Alice (Allice) Knox. Alice was born on 3/5/1873 to William and Mary Elizabeth (nee Summers) Knox in Shelby County. Parents of Mary Elizabeth are Samuel and Hannah Summers I believe. William and Mary Elizabeth were married 10/19/1869 in Shelby County according to the Illinois web site. Alice Knox married Joseph Lofland on 12/7/1886 in Shelby County. She was only 13 or 14 according to my records. Joseph was born 9/28/1859 in Pickaway County Ohio. He died 1919 in Vandalia, Illinois. Alice died on 1/18/1959. Joseph and Alice were my father's, Albert Lofland, grandparents. In searching the 1880 Census for Shelby on rootsweb, I found my great grandfather Joseph Lofland and family in Pickway Township. I did not find any information on my Knox or Summers families. I do not know if Alice had any siblings. Thank you for your time and effort. Edna
