    3. I grew up in the Pana, Tower Hill, Moweaqua areas. Tower Hill is on Route 16, probably 7 miles east of Pana which is in Christian County or about 4 miles from the Shelby-Christian Line. Its about 10 miles west of Shelbyville. Tower Hill is pretty small but 16 goes through its northern side. If you're coming from Cowden, the quickest way is to take 128 up to the Lakewood blacktop. It'll take you west over to the Herrick blacktop, I'm assuming that's the Co Rd 15 mentioned. Go North 7 to 10 miles and it'll take you around the curves and over the railroad tracks into Tower Hill. Or you can take 128 up to 16 and then go west which is a straighter shot. One note is that most county roads are not marked although they are getting better about it. You'll just see a sign that says the town with an arrow or x number of miles. Also, many locals don't call the roads by the road numbers and may not know the road number but will refer to them as such and such blacktop which will be the town that the blacktop runs into. So if you stop for directions, you'll need to not only know the road number you're looking for but also some of the towns on that road. -----Original Message----- From: Sherry Mazzetti [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2001 3:24 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [ILSHELBY] Tower Hill Not been to Tower Hill, but I am pretty familiar with both Shelbyville and Cowden. Shelbyville has Route 16 running East/West through it. If you are traveling from the East and going West, you take Route 16 through Shelbyville and beyond 128 (the turnoff for Cowden). Reportedly, there is a Country Road 15 about 6 miles West of Shelbyville. Turn Left (South) on CR 15 and go .2 miles. Tower Hill is supposed to be just behond it another .1 miles. If you were traveling from the South from Cowden, you would take Route 128 to Route 16 and turn left (West) away from Shelbyville (a right turn take you to S-ville). From Cowden to Tower Hill is a bit over 17 miles. Hope this is clear. Found the directions on Mapquest, and they make sense to me. SHERRY

    3. Thank you Joyce, I guess I never really went into the town. I only went by way of the road I described. I have 2 cousins that live there. I was also thinking of the cemetery. It must be a good ways away from the town then. Anyway, please disregard my directions, yours are much better! <g> Terria ----- Original Message ----- From: "Conklin, Joyce S." <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2001 5:22 PM Subject: RE: [ILSHELBY] Tower Hill > I grew up in the Pana, Tower Hill, Moweaqua areas.
