I know I should have paid more attention to the subject shown, but didn't, especially since it is Shelby County. Where is Tower Hill in proximity to ~ say ~ Stewardson, Effingham, Mode and that general vicinity. Trying to figure out if any of my names might be in that "area" ~ I have PONSLER, SHUMARD, ROLEY, YAKEY, MANHART, WILLIAMS, AUGENSTINE/AUGENSTEIN, BRECKENRIDGE for a few ~ and of course I have a baby brother buried in the Stewardson Cemetery back in 1933. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Antoinette (Tacoma, Washington) [email protected]
Antoinette, I am not too good with directions, but Tower Hill is north of Cowden (on the way to Shelbyville) and you turn off to the left. There is a fairly large cemetery on Tower Hill....by the way, it is just that, a little hill! <g> In relation to Effingham, it is north on I think it is 128. Not quite sure of the number, but this road goes on north to Shelbyville through Cowden. Hope that gives you some fair directions! Thanks, Terria. Although I left Stewardson in 1940 at the end of first grade <grin> and never made it back until 1990, I have been back at least three more times since then. I have distant relatives on my dad's maternal family plus the fact I have a brother buried in the Stewardson Cemetery who died there in 1933 as an 8 month old baby. In 1999 I was able to get a temporary marker for his gravesite and hope to (soon) get a small permanent marker up for him. So you have given me a good idea of where it is, will check it on a map and see where it is in comparison to where my "ancestry" was and if they might have been in that area.
