    1. Re: [ILSHELBY] WILBORN CEMETERY - SHELBY COUNTY
    2. Brian Smith - regarding Nancy Smith and James Wilborn I believe James is the oldest son of John Wilburn, SR. John, Sr arrived in the Shelby county area about 1825. Based on the 1820 Census for Scott County, IN he had 7 daughters and 3 sons. I believe these are eight of his children's marriages below. Samuel Zachariah Robertson m. Mary Wilburn abt 1818 in IN brother to Simeon Simeon Robertson m. Anne Wilbourne 2 Sep 1824 Jennings County, IN John Wilburn m. Ellen Webb 4/29/1838 Lavina Wilburn m Thomas Howe 8/10/1839 James Wilborn m. Nancy Smith 3/27/1827 Isaac Welborn m. Sarah Little 10/4 /1838 Lidy(Lydia) Welborn m. Jerimiah Provolt 10/4/1828 Sally Willborn m. Henry Smith 11/8/1827 The marriages came from IL Statewide marriage index and the IN Statewide Index. The Samuel Zachariah Robertson line is my direct line and a research group of Robertson cousins have located a great deal of information on that line. These probably are two more daughters and they were married to McCunes They are Sarah Ann Wilbourn m. Samuel McCune b. 14 Feb 1817 Elizabeth Wilbourn m. Abraham McCune b. abt 1818 This information came from another Robertson researcher and I do not know the source or any other information about them. I did find a Probate record that mentions James and John and his son in law Thomas How. Also mentions his wife's name as Mary Willbourn. I have been researching the Welborn/Wilburn etc. family only a short period of time. I do have these marriages for Smith's which occurred about the same time as Sally's and Henry Smith's, James and Nancy Smith. Based on how these families married their neighbors and other related family members I would check these names out on censuses and other records in Shelby county. William Smith m. Milly Miller 7/10/1828 William Smith m. Matilda Daniel 10/14/1829 Andrew Smith m. Cyntha Verdin 1830 Daniel Smith m. Sarah Ann Waggoner 1843 This last name could be the youngest child in a family or the next generation. The Shelby Genealogy Site has some records online and you might find some names listed there. The census might help you locate these people help establish who might have been neighbors. Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.
