Hi, In the 1860 census, I found no JAMES MARTIN. In the 1870 census there are 2 JAMES MARTIN listings but not with the exact same names of the children. The very DISAPPOINTING fact about the 1870 census is: the enumerator elected to omit the first name of most wives; using, instead, just "Mrs." and a lot of children's names are only listed with INITIALS....would you believe? I've also discovered that some names are not included in the indexes. I've had to literally read each one like a book to actually find some of our family. Here's all I found: 1870 Shelby Co. IL census MARTIN JAMES-----45-----farmer----200-----b. OH MRS. 50 b. OH GEORGE----19-----------------------b. IN MARY ANN--17-----------------------b. IN WILLIAM M.--15---------------------b. IL MARTIN JAMES-----46-----------------------b. OH MRS.------50-----------------------b. MD LENARD----23-----------------------b. OH LIZY------21-----------------------b. OH GEORGE----18-----------------------b. OH MARY ANN--16-----------------------b. IN WILLIAM---14/44?-------------------b. Can any one see if >they can locate them there in the census 1860 or 1870 . I wanted to see >if it's the right Lurany married to James . Should have children Amaila >(Emilia or even Emily ) Charles Mary and Sylvester.
