I read some place that it was thought Nancy Rice died about 1859. Nathan Rice was her son and the brother of my gggrandmother, Mary (Rice) Daniel. I see that Emanuel, the "Manuel" of 1850 is still with her. I am assuming he was the son of Hiram and Arminta (Rice) Hopkins.

My ancestors, Spencer and Nancy Rice had died prior to 1860 in Shelby County. I do know that Spencer and Nancy had a daughter, Arminta Rice, who married Hiram Hopkins. The six yrs old Manuel Hopkins who was with this family in 1850 Shelby County was possibly their grandson. But I did not find any record in the Illinois State Marriage Index of an Arminta Hopkins who married a Johnston. So I'm still in the dark as to the Rice and Johnston relationship. Good luck in getting your puzzle solved.
I don't know if this helps. There was a Minnie PERRYMAN b. 3 Nov 1891 d, July 1983 Shelby Co, IL married Herman BLANKENSHIP. They died in Shelbyville, ILL. They had all the children except Benjamin (by that name) and had added some more children. My Francis Marion was married and living in Shelby County in 1860. Still looking!!!
What exactly are you looking for. I have Francis Marion's pension papers with a lot of info on them. Let me know. Mary Beth

He was born in Illinois in 1834. He married Massey Ann Davis on November 10, 1855. Massey died September 16, 1875 in Cold Springs Twp, Shelby County, Illinois. My Great Grandmother was one of their four children, she was Erminna Jane Johnston born in October, 1856. Francis then married Harriet E. Bowen Call (who had lost her husband, Joseph Call, on August 23, 1875) on April 3, 1877. They were married by E. A. McCracken in Shelby County, Illinois. Francis Marion Johnson served in the Civil War and died in Indian Territory, Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 14, 1906. I cannot find his death certificate in Oklahoma because he passed away in Indian Territory the year before Oklahoma became a state. They told me there were not good records kept in that area at that time. I did find his grave and have a picture of the tombstone and also his Pension Papers from the Civil War. I would like know if anyone knows who his parents were so that I can continue researching the family. I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

The area of Missouri he was from was likely of divided loyalty. His family might have faced retaliation had he enlisted there. PVT. WASH G. BROTHERTON was in Company I of the 14th ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFANTRY (REORGANIZED) from SHELBY County Illinois.
