All that comes to mind now is Anna Marie Schmidt. But I also have a Sophia Ann Yack?? I have been told by german researchers that the last name may be wrong. Eck and Yack are not that far apart. It is my understanding that when they came to this country, since they could not understand what they were saying, that often times the name was written down as it was heard. I will look in my book and see what I have and get back to you.

John - The index for Shelby County death records is included in the Illinois database. http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/databases.html Scroll down to pre-1916 deaths and follow directions. When searching I have better luck hitting "reset" after each search. The death records are in the County Clerk's office at the courthouse in Shelbyville. Good Luck. Eileen B.

I have an 1895 plat book for Shelby County if that is any help. There is an insurance company in Shelbyville that sells current plat books, however they do not keep prior year books for historical reasons. The Shelby County Hist. & Gen. Society may have boks through the years you need. Their phone number is 217-774-2260. They may operate on a redued schedule until later in the Spring. What years and what name was the farm owned by?
